The Horizon 8 dashboards section of the left navigation provides views for monitoring your Horizon 8 environment, including the infrastructure, sessions, and end-user experience.
The section contains four dashboards:
| Dashboard | Shows |
|---|---|
| Overview | Environment-wide scale, health, and session activity |
| Connection Server | Connection Server health, utilization, and certificates |
| Unified Access Gateway | UAG health, utilization, and connections |
| End user session | Where users are experiencing performance problems |
Working with widgets
Every dashboard widget offers the same controls:
| Control | Location | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| View | Bottom left | Opens the full detail view for that widget |
| Filter | Top right | Narrows the data shown in the widget |
Time window
Dashboard widgets show data for a time window that you set. Widgets labeled Current show approximately the last 20 minutes; widgets labeled Period show a wider window that you choose.
Aggregation
Numeric widgets, including utilization, connection counts, logon duration, and protocol performance, offer a Min / Max / Avg selector that controls how multiple samples for a single entity are reduced to one value. The default is Avg.
Aggregation does not apply to health charts, the count tiles, or certificate status, because those report a state rather than a measurement.
Pod filter
Most widgets accept a pod filter. Clearing the filter shows data across all connected pods.
Overview
The Overview dashboard summarizes the health and activity of your Horizon environment.
Environment summary
A row of count tiles shows the current scale and state of the monitored environment:
| Tile | Shows |
|---|---|
| Pods | Connected Horizon pods, with a count of pods in an error state |
| Connection Servers | Total Connection Servers, with a count not responding |
| UAGs | Total Unified Access Gateway appliances, with a count in a critical state |
| Total Connected Sessions | Sessions currently active or idle, against the total monitored |
| Total Disconnected Sessions | Sessions in a disconnected state, against the total monitored |
These tiles report current state and are not affected by the time window.
Top Issues
The Top Issues widget ranks problem areas by how many pods are affected, across three tabs — Connection Servers, UAG, and Sessions. Use it to identify where to investigate first.
A bar counts the number of distinct pods breaching that threshold, not the number of servers or sessions. A pod with twenty overloaded Connection Servers counts once.
| Tab | Issue | Threshold |
|---|---|---|
| Connection Servers | High CPU | CPU ≥ 90% |
| Connection Servers | High memory | Memory ≥ 90% |
| Connection Servers | High connections | Brokered connections ≥ 2000 |
| Connection Servers | Poor health | Connection Server not responding |
| UAG | High CPU | CPU ≥ 90% |
| UAG | High memory | Memory ≥ 90% |
| UAG | High connections | Connection count ≥ 2000 |
| UAG | Poor health | Appliance in a critical state |
| Sessions | High CPU | Session CPU ≥ 90% |
| Sessions | High memory | Session memory ≥ 90% |
| Sessions | Slow logon | Logon duration ≥ 180 seconds |
| Sessions | High protocol latency | p95 round-trip time ≥ 300 ms |
| Sessions | High packet loss | Packet loss ≥ 5% |
Session activity
| Widget | Shows |
|---|---|
| Horizon Session Activity | Session activity over time, grouped by action |
| Session Counts | Session count over time, grouped by session state — Active, Disconnected, Idle |
| Average Logon Time | Logon duration over the selected window |
Logon duration is grouped into five bands:
| Band | Range |
|---|---|
| Under 30 seconds | < 30s |
| 30 seconds to 1 minute | 30–60s |
| 1 to 2 minutes | 60–120s |
| 2 to 5 minutes | 120–300s |
| Over 5 minutes | > 300s |
A high proportion of sessions in the upper bands can indicate slow profile loading or an infrastructure problem.
Session protocol performance
Protocol latency and packet loss are plotted over time so that network-related session problems can be separated from resource problems on the desktop.
Connection Server
The Connection Server dashboard shows the health and resource utilization of the Connection Servers in your connected pods.
| Widget | Shows |
|---|---|
| Horizon Connection Server Health | Connection Server count by health state |
| Connection Server User Count | Connected users per Connection Server over time |
| Connection Server Certificate Status | Connection Server count by certificate state |
| Connection Server Certificate Expiration Time | When each Connection Server certificate expires |
| Connection Server CPU % | CPU utilization over time |
| Connection Server Memory Usage | Memory utilization over time |
Unified Access Gateway
The Unified Access Gateway dashboard shows the health and resource utilization of your UAG appliances.
| Widget | Shows |
|---|---|
| UAG Health Status | UAG count by health state |
| UAG CPU Usage % | CPU utilization over time |
| UAG Memory Usage | Memory utilization over time |
| UAG Connection Count | Connection count over time |
End user session
The End User Session dashboard helps administrators identify and troubleshoot user experience and session performance issues across the Horizon environment.
The dashboard includes the following widgets and views:
| Widget / View | Description |
|---|---|
| Login Duration | Displays session logon times to help identify slow login experiences. |
| Horizon Client Type Breakdown | Shows the distribution of client types connecting to the environment. |
| Agents Reporting Sessions | Provides a trend view of agents reporting active user sessions over time. |
| Resource Utilization | Displays CPU and memory usage metrics for monitored sessions and resources. |
| Protocol Performance | Provides charts for protocol latency and packet loss, helping administrators identify network-related performance issues. |
| User Details | Enables administrators to search for users and review current and historical session information for troubleshooting and analysis. |
Note: Health state and certificate status information for Connection Servers and Unified Access Gateways (UAGs) is not part of the End User Session dashboard and should be documented in the appropriate infrastructure monitoring section if applicable.
Viewing details
Several widgets open a detail grid so that you can move from a chart to the underlying records.
| Widget | Opens |
|---|---|
| Session Counts | The sessions in the bar you clicked |
| Average Logon Time | The sessions in the logon band you clicked |
| Horizon Connection Server Health | A list of Connection Server samples for the window |
| UAG Health Status | A list of UAG appliance samples for the window |
Clicking a point on a session chart opens only the sessions in that time bucket and category, with the filters and aggregation from the chart still applied. Each session appears once.
The session grid lists user name, login time, logon duration, session state, session type, session duration, desktop type, pool name, VM name, CPU and memory utilization, protocol latency, packet loss, and client type. It can be sorted, filtered, and searched by user name.
The Connection Server and UAG grids are available at any time, not only after clicking a chart. Each lists one row per appliance per collection sample over the window, so an appliance appears more than once.
