Collect Diagnostic Information for a Linux Virtual Machine

You can collect diagnostic information to help Technical Support diagnose and resolve issues with a Linux virtual machine that you are using to provision remote Horizon 8 resources. You create a Data Collection Tool (DCT) bundle that gathers the machine's configuration information and logs into a compressed tarball.

For more information, see "Using DCT to Collect Logs for Remote Desktop Features and Components" in the Horizon Administration document.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Linux virtual machine as a user with the required privileges.

  2. Open a command prompt and run the dct-debug.sh script.

Results

The script generates a tarball that contains the DCT bundle. For example:

ubuntu-18-vdm-sdct-20190201-0606-agent.tgz

The tarball is generated in the directory from which the script was executed (the current working directory).
