Limited Availability: System Requirements for Horizon Delegate

Limited Availability

Horizon 8 offers Horizon Delegate with limited availability.

Horizon Delegate is now production-ready and available through a Limited Availability (LA) program for Horizon 8.

To request access to the Limited Availability program, contact horizon-delegate-request@omnissa.com, Omnissa sales representative, or Omnissa partner.

To support Horizon Delegate, your Horizon deployment must meet certain software and hardware requirements.

  • Horizon platform

    Horizon 8 2609 or later.

  • Horizon license

All Horizon licenses support Horizon Delegate.

  • Remote desktop

Horizon Delegate is available only to the user who owns the desktop session. Session Collaboration is not supported. You must install Horizon Agent with the Horizon Delegate setup option enabled on the virtual desktop or RDS host. The Horizon Delegate setup option is not selected by default. See Installing Horizon Agent with the Horizon Delegate Feature Enabled and Installing Horizon Agent for Windows. Horizon Delegate supports full Windows desktop sessions only:

    • Virtual desktops (VDI)
    • Published desktops on RDS hosts

Horizon Delegate does not require GPU resources on the remote desktop. AI processing runs in the GitHub Copilot cloud service.

  • Client

Horizon Web Client 2609 or later. Other Horizon Client platforms are not supported.

  • AI provider

GitHub Copilot. You must supply GitHub Copilot licenses for your users and assign Copilot seats to them. See Granting access to Copilot for members of your organization in the GitHub documentation.

  • Network

The remote desktop must have outbound network access to the GitHub Copilot cloud service.

  • Runtimes for local MCP servers

Horizon Delegate does not install language runtimes. If you deploy local MCP servers that run on the remote desktop, the runtime that each server needs, such as Node.js with npx, or uv and uvx with Python, must already be installed on the remote desktop. For non-persistent desktops, install the runtimes in the golden image. Remote (HTTP) MCP servers do not require a local runtime.

Note: The availability and use of local and remote MCP servers are subject to enterprise policies, including Horizon Delegate group policy settings and GitHub Copilot enterprise policies. Installing the required runtimes does not override these restrictions. See Deploying Enterprise MCP Servers for Horizon Delegate.
