Limited Availability: Configuring Horizon Delegate

Limited Availability

Horizon 8 offers Horizon Delegate with limited availability.

Horizon Delegate is now production-ready and available through a Limited Availability (LA) program for Horizon 8.

To request access to the Limited Availability program, contact horizon-delegate-request@omnissa.com, Omnissa sales representative, or Omnissa partner.

Horizon Delegate is an AI agent that runs in the user's remote desktop session and completes multi-step tasks on the user's behalf. Users work with Horizon Delegate through a chat panel in the Horizon Web Client.

Horizon Delegate runs in the user's Windows remote desktop as the logged-in user. It uses the same authenticated session, network access, and data permissions that IT manages for that user. Communication between the Horizon Web Client and Horizon Delegate uses a Horizon virtual channel. Administrators can provide AI agent capabilities on Windows desktops by using Horizon policies and controls.

Horizon Delegate has the following features:

  • Horizon Delegate runs in the remote desktop as the logged-in user, with that user's own entitlements. It does not escalate privileges.
  • Horizon Delegate uses GitHub Copilot as its AI harness. Users can select from the models that GitHub Copilot makes available to them, which can include models from several vendors. Model availability depends on your GitHub Copilot plan and enterprise policy. For the current list of models, see Supported AI models in GitHub Copilot.
  • Tasks continue to run in the remote desktop when the user disconnects. When the user reconnects to the same session, from the same device or another device, the conversation resumes with its history, any task that is still running, and any approval request that is still waiting for a response.
  • Horizon Delegate can use Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, called connectors in the Horizon Delegate panel, to work with applications, files, and SaaS services. Administrators control which MCP servers are available. See Deploying Enterprise MCP Servers for Horizon Delegate.
  • Before Horizon Delegate takes an action that requires a decision, it can ask the user to approve the action. See Horizon Delegate Tool Approvals and Permissions.
  • Administrators control Horizon Delegate features with group policy and registry settings. See Horizon Delegate Group Policy Settings.

To set up Horizon Delegate, complete the following tasks.

  1. Verify that your environment meets the requirements. See System Requirements for Horizon Delegate.
  2. Install Horizon Agent with the Horizon Delegate feature on the virtual desktops or RDS hosts. See Installing Horizon Agent with the Horizon Delegate Feature Enabled.
  3. Contact Omnissa to enable Horizon Delegate at the server level, and then enable Horizon Delegate for the desktop pool. See Enable Horizon Delegate for a Desktop Pool.
  4. (Optional) Configure Horizon Delegate group policy settings. See Add the Horizon Delegate ADMX Template in Active Directory.

For information about how end users work with Horizon Delegate, see User Operation of Horizon Delegate.
