Process Manager is a panel listing your active remote desktop and published application sessions. It shows each app's file or window title, icon and health status, and gives you a session ID to copy and share with your help desk. When there are application sessions with no applications running, the panel displays a message, “No apps or desktops are running in this session. Log off to close it.”
In Process Manager, you bring a session to the front, disconnect it, or log off from it without affecting your other sessions. Sessions grouped by session ID, displayed as the first eight characters, with a button to copy the full ID. The ID matches the ID shown in the Horizon Console Help Desk. Hovering over the session ID displays the full session ID.
Desktop sessions appear as one row each. Application sessions show one row per running app, labeled with the file or window title. For isolated sessions, each app has its own session ID. For shared sessions, multiple apps appear under one session ID.
Process Manager is only available on Horizon Client for Windows.
Note: To protect sensitive information (such as document names, email subjects, and web titles), Horizon Agent doesn't report window titles for some applications. These applications include Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. For these applications, Process Manager shows only the program file name. Example: winword.exe. With Horizon Agent 2609 or later, your administrator can choose to show full window titles.
Prerequisites
-
Horizon Client for Windows 2609
-
Horizon Connection Server 2609
-
Horizon Agent 2606 or later on Windows VDI or RDS hosts; isolated session mode requires Agent 2606 or later
-
An administrator must enable Process Manager within Horizon Client in Horizon Console global settings. For more information, see Global Settings for Client and Console Sessions.
Note: With an older or unsupported Connection Server, or with the setting turned off, the client shows the standard desktop and application window with no Process Manager entry.
Using Process Manager
Open Process Manager
-
In the desktop and application selector window, click the More Actions (...) menu.
-
Select Process Manager.
Process Manager can be opened from the system tray after you've logged in to a server.
-
In the system tray, right-click the Horizon Client icon.
-
Select Process Manager.
Refresh the list
The session list only updates when the panel is opened or you click Refresh. There is no background or automatic refresh.
Disconnecting or logging off of a session
Each session has its own menu with Disconnect and Log off. The menu can be opened by clicking More Actions (:) next to the Session ID.
-
Disconnect - When clicked, displays a confirmation, then closes the connection. After Disconnect completes, the session is removed from the list. The session keeps running on the server and you can reconnect later.
-
Log Off - When clicked, displays a confirmation warning that unsaved data will be lost, then ends the session on the server. In a shared session, all apps in that session close. The session is removed from the list when it ends.
Bring a session to the front
Double-click a desktop or app row (or press Enter or Space) to bring that remote window to the foreground and restore it if minimized.
Close the panel
Click Close, Cancel, or anywhere outside of the panel. Also, pressing Esc closes the panel.
