Collect Omnissa Horizon Client Log Information

You can use the Horizon Client log collection script to gather client logs from various locations and package them into a single log file for troubleshooting. Most Linux-based thin clients typically store Horizon Client logs in one or more locations.

The log collection script compiles the client logs into a package file named horizon-log-xxxxxx.tar.gz by default.

In the log files, entries with the Blast_Connect_Failure_Alert tag contain specific error information about Omnissa Horizon Blast connection failures.

You can run the log collection script automatically from the About menu item or manually from the command-line terminal.

Run the Log Collection Script From the "About" Menu Item

You can gather client logs by running the log collection script from the About menu item.

1. Do one of the following:

   • Right-click the Horizon Client icon in the system tray and select About.
   • In Horizon Client, select Help > About. The About Horizon Client window appears.

   

2. Select Collect Support Data.

   Allow the log collection to proceed. When the process is complete, Horizon Client displays a confirmation message with the location of the packaged log file.

   

Run the Log Collection Script From the Command Line

To run the log collection script from the command-line terminal, you must have "execute" permission on the Linux client system.

1. Ensure that you have "execute" permission to the log collection script on the Linux client system by running the view-log-collector command.

2. To start the log collection script, run the the view-log-collector command.

By default, the script finds the latest log files generated by Horizon Client and compiles them into a package file named horizon-log-xxxxxx.tar.gz, located in the folder from which you ran the script.

To customize the name and location of the package file, you can run a command.

• The first example compiles client logs into a package file named abc.tar.gz in the folder from which you ran the script.
• The second example compiles client logs into a package file named abc.tar.gz in the /home/user/Downloads/ folder.
