The Linux device on which you install Omnissa Horizon Client, and the peripherals it uses, must meet certain system configurations that have been tested and are officially supported by Omnissa.
Note: These system requirements pertain to the Horizon Client for Linux that Omnissa makes available. In addition, several Omnissa partners offer thin and zero client devices for Omnissa Horizon deployments. The vendor and model of the thin or zero client device, and the configuration that an enterprise chooses to use, determine the features available for each client device and the operating systems supported. For information about the vendors and models for these client devices, see the Omnissa Compatibility Guides, available on the Omnissa website.

Operating System Version Ubuntu 64-bit 20.04 and 22.04 Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 64-bit 8.9, 9.3 Note: On RHEL 9.x/8.x and Ubuntu systems, Horizon Client only supports the X11 display server protocol. The Wayland display server protocol is not supported.

OpenSSL requirement
Horizon Client requires a specific version of OpenSSL. The correct version is automatically downloaded and installed.

Omnissa Horizon deployments
Horizon Client for Linux requires the latest maintenance release of one of the following deployment types:
- Omnissa Horizon 8 version 2006 or later
- Omnissa Horizon Cloud Service - next-gen
- Horizon Cloud in Microsoft Azure
Note: If client systems connect from outside the corporate firewall in a Horizon 8 deployment, it is good practice for you to use an Omnissa Unified Access Gateway appliance. With a Unified Access Gateway appliance, client systems do not require a VPN connection.

Other software requirements
Horizon Client also has certain other software requirements, depending on the Linux distribution you use. Allow the Horizon Client installation wizard to scan your system for library compatibilities and dependencies.
Note: To enable connections to the Horizon Cloud Service - next-gen portal in non-private mode, ensure that a Secret Service package and the
libsecretpackage are installed on the Linux client system. Since some thin client distributions do not support Secret Service, such thin client users can only connect to the Horizon Cloud Service - next-gen portal in private mode.The following list of requirements pertains only to Ubuntu distributions.
