Configuring the Omnissa Dynamic Environment Manager Management Console

After you install and configure Dynamic Environment Manager, you can start the Dynamic Environment Manager Management Console. The Dynamic Environment Manager Management Console requires initial configuration and you can also configure which features you want to manage through the console.

Fresh Installation

If you install Dynamic Environment Manager as a fresh installation, when you open the Dynamic Environment Manager Management Console the first time, you are prompted to select which mode the Dynamic Environment Manager Management Console opens in going forward, integration mode or standalone mode.

Whichever mode you select, the Dynamic Environment Manager Management Console subsequently opens in that mode, unless you change the mode, such as by selecting Configure > Integration in the Dynamic Environment Manager Management Console.

Initial Standalone-Mode Configuration

When you use the Dynamic Environment Manager Management Console in standalone mode for the first time, you must specify the location of the configuration share. With the configuration share set, you can start using the Dynamic Environment Manager Management Console in standalone mode.

Dynamic Environment Manager Management Console searches for the Immidio Flex Profiles Configuration.xml configuration file at the specified location. If the file exists, this central file is read and used as configuration for the Dynamic Environment Manager Management Console. Otherwise, a new configuration file, with default values, and a General folder is created.

Note: Dynamic Environment Manager Management Console configuration is stored in the central configuration share. Any changes that you make to the configuration affect all Dynamic Environment Manager Management Console installations that are configured to use this share.

Further Configuration

You can control which features you want to manage through the Dynamic Environment Manager Management Console by configuring the Dynamic Environment Manager Management Console settings. You can display the settings by clicking Configure in the Dynamic Environment Manager Management Console.

• Personalization Features. Each check box in the Personalization Features section corresponds to a Personalization-related tab available in the Dynamic Environment Manager Management Console, except the Silo support check box. Silo support lets you use Dynamic Environment Manager Management Console to manage both General configuration files and silo-specific ones. When enabled, a Silos folder is created in the Dynamic Environment Manager configuration share. Within the Silos folder, you can create subfolders for each silo, and within these subfolders you can create and manage silo-specific Flex configuration files.
• Additional Features. Each checked item in the Additional Features section appears as a top-level tab in the Dynamic Environment Manager Management Console. The Dynamic Environment Manager Management Console does not display the Computer Environment and Application Migration tabs by default. Select the corresponding check boxes if you want one or both of these items to appear as top-level tabs.
• App-V. The App-V tab contains settings for application virtualization support. For more information, see the Omnissa Dynamic Environment Manager Administration Guide.
• Configuration Changelog. You can view a log of changes to personalization or user environment settings files. See information about the configuration changelog in the Omnissa Dynamic Environment Manager Administration Guide.
