Feature Enhancements and Updates

• Enhanced reporting to display enrollment status for Device Management client, Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub, and Secure File Distribution (SFD) installation, along with scheduled task information.
• Updated SSL certificate pinning configuration with latest certificate details.
• Upgraded Windows SDK minimum version requirement from 10.0.10586.0 to 10.0.22621.0.

Minimum Requirements

Use of any previous versions of the Provisioning Tool will result in intermittent failures in the provisioning process.

Resolved Issues:

• Resolved logging-related issues.
• Fixed AutoAdminLogon registry key formatting issue where trailing whitespace was causing incorrect behavior.
• Fixed issue where enrollment provisioning package failed to apply when the current session username returned null on certain Windows versions.
• Removed VMware ESR URL reference from configuration

New Features

Rebranding Changes

• Renamed Directories and Executables: The default installation path is now C:\ProgramData\WS1ProvisioningTool.

• The primary executable has been renamed to WS1ProvisioningTool.exe, along with other dependent executables, to align with the new branding.

• Updated Dependency Libraries: Various third-party libraries have been upgraded to their latest versions to ensure compatibility and security.

• Updated SFD Support (v24.10 and Higher): Added support for the latest SFD versions starting from 24.10.

Minimum Requirements

• Directory Path Changes If you have scripts or other automated processes referencing the old installation path or executable name, you must update them to reflect the new path and file names.

• Compatibility Ensure that any integrations or third-party tools referencing older versions of the provisioning tool are updated to accommodate the rebranded executables and paths.

Rebranding Changes

• Renamed Path and Executables: The default installation path and executable names have been updated to align with new branding standards.

• All dependent executables and scripts have also been renamed for a consistent experience.

• Updated Dependency Libraries: Various internal and third-party libraries have been updated to their latest versions to ensure compatibility, enhance security, and improve overall performance.

• Updated SFD Support (v24.10 and Higher): This release fully supports SFD versions 24.10 and above.

Minimum Requirements

• Important: .NET 8 is required on provisioning workstations and any environment running the Factory Provisioning Service. If you have not previously installed .NET 8, ensure your provisioning workstation and servers are updated before installing or upgrading to Factory Provisioning Service 24.11.

System Requirements

• Operating Systems: Windows Server 2016 and later

• Hardware: Sufficient CPU, RAM, and disk space for provisioning tasks (requirements vary by deployment size and complexity).

• Additional Requirements: .NET 8 and Network connectivity as required by your organization’s provisioning workflows.

Resolved Issues

• Rebranding Consistency: Updated all references to the old path and executables to avoid confusion and inconsistencies within provisioning workflows.

• Library Consistency: Resolved minor compatibility issues by upgrading to the latest versions of dependency libraries.

Upgrade Instructions

• Back Up Existing Configurations: As a best practice, back up your current Factory Provisioning Service configurations and any custom scripts or task sequences before upgrading.

• Verify Requirements: Confirm that your environment meets the updated requirements, including the presence of .NET 8 (if required) and any other prerequisites.

• Run the Installer: Launch the Factory Provisioning Service 24.11 installer and follow the on-screen instructions. Ensure that the renamed path and executables are correctly installed and no references to old file locations remain.

• Update References in Scripts and Automation: Any scripts, automated tasks, or tools pointing to the old path or executables must be updated to align with the new naming convention.

New Features

• PowerShell Script Execution Control: Added a wait mechanism ensuring that any PowerShell script executes completely before provisioning proceeds to the next step. This helps prevent script interruptions and improves overall reliability.

• Hidden PowerShell Prompt: Updated the PowerShell invocation so it runs in a hidden window. End users or provisioning administrators will no longer see a flashing or open console window during device setup.

• Health Check Endpoint Versioning: Introduced a version parameter for the FPS Health Check endpoint. This makes it easier to identify and validate the specific release of the service in use.

• Removed Unnecessary cmd.exe Calls: Simplified provisioning workflows by removing redundant or unneeded command-line calls, reducing overhead and potential points of failure.

• Renaming of Provisioning Tool: The provisioning executable has been renamed to WS1ProvisioningTool.exe to align with Workspace ONE branding and streamline naming conventions.

• NuGet Package Update: Security improvement through an updated NuGet package addressing known vulnerabilities. Ensures compliance with the latest security best practices.

• .NET Runtime Upgrade: The Factory Provisioning Service now leverages .NET 8 (previously .NET 6). This upgrade includes performance improvements, security enhancements, and forward-compatibility with future .NET releases.

Minimum Requirements

• Important: .NET 8 is required on provisioning workstations and any environment running the Factory Provisioning Service. Ensure you upgrade to .NET 8 prior to installing or updating FPS to avoid compatibility issues.

• Supported Operating Systems: Windows 10 (20H2 or later) and Windows 11 for the Factory Provisioning Tool, Windows Server 2016 or later for the Factory Provisioning Service

• Sufficient hardware resources to run the provisioning workflows (CPU, RAM, and disk space vary based on the size and complexity of your provisioning tasks).

Resolved Issues

• Reliability: Ensured that scripts do not terminate prematurely by adding a wait mechanism.

• UI/UX: Removed console pop-ups during provisioning to improve the user experience.

• Performance: Streamlined workflows by removing unnecessary system calls, reducing overhead and deployment times.

• Security: Addressed known vulnerabilities through updated libraries and .NET runtime migration.

Upgrade Instructions for the Factory Provisioning Service

• Ensure .NET 8 is Installed: Verify that your environment is running .NET 8 to prevent installation or runtime errors.

• Back Up Existing Configurations: As a best practice, back up your existing Factory Provisioning Service configurations and scripts prior to an upgrade.

• Run the Installer: Launch the Workspace ONE Factory Provisioning Service 24.10 installer. Follow the on-screen prompts.

• Validate Post-Upgrade: Use the updated Health Check endpoint to confirm the service is running version 24.10.

• Validate that provisioning workflows run correctly and that no errors appear in the event logs.

New Features

• Improved the current process to reduce the timeout for the cleanup operation.

Minimum Requirements

The following are the minimum requirements for this release.

• Windows 10 x64 21H1 or later
• Workspace ONE UEM Console 2101 or later

Resolved Issues

• Resolved a device reboot loop that occurred during application installation.

• Fixed an issue where the encrypted PPKG flow was broken in certain versions of Windows and after some Windows updates.

Known Issues

• The Workspace ONE Provisioning Tool is currently incompatible with ARM processors. This will be fixed in an upcoming release.
