Limited Availability
Horizon 8 offers Horizon Delegate with limited availability.
Horizon Delegate is now production-ready and available through a Limited Availability (LA) program for Horizon 8.
To request access to the Limited Availability program, contact horizon-delegate-request@omnissa.com, Omnissa sales representative, or Omnissa partner.
When Horizon Delegate is enabled for a desktop pool, users open the Horizon Delegate panel from the Horizon Web Client sidebar after they launch a remote desktop. Users can show or hide the panel as needed.
Sign in to GitHub Copilot
When sign-in is required, the GitHub sign-in page opens in the remote desktop, and Horizon Delegate shows the sign-in status in the conversation. If browser sign-in is not available, Horizon Delegate shows a GitHub URL and a one-time code that the user can use to sign in.
Users can enter the following commands in the Horizon Delegate panel.
/login– Starts or restarts sign-in./logout– Signs out. Previous conversations remain available in the history, but they are not resumed automatically./whoami– Shows the signed-in identity.
Layouts
Horizon Delegate offers the following layouts. Users can switch between them during a session.
- Split View – The remote desktop and Horizon Delegate appear side by side, with a divider that the user can drag to resize them.
- Overlay View – Horizon Delegate appears in a floating panel over the remote desktop. The user can move, resize, and minimize the panel.
- Full View – Horizon Delegate fills the content area.
- Mobile View – On small screens, such as phones, the user switches between the remote desktop and Horizon Delegate.
If the browser window is too small for the selected layout, Horizon Delegate changes to Full View. Horizon Delegate remembers the user's layout and panel preferences across sessions.
Conversations
Horizon Delegate keeps multiple conversations for each desktop session. In the history panel, users can start a conversation, open or switch to an existing conversation, and delete a conversation. While Horizon Delegate is working on a request, the user cannot switch away from or delete that conversation.
A status indicator in the Horizon Delegate header shows the current connection state, such as Online, Working, Connecting, Reconnecting, Offline, or Disconnected.
Users can stop a request while Horizon Delegate is working on it.
Track tasks in progress
While Horizon Delegate works on a request, the status indicator shows Working, and the conversation shows the progress of each step. Tasks continue to run in the remote desktop when the user disconnects. When the user reconnects to the same session, from the same device or another device, the conversation shows the task results, any task that is still running, and any approval request that is waiting for a response.
Models
Users can select the model that answers their requests. The selected model becomes the default for new conversations. Horizon Delegate remembers the selection for the user within the same pool. A model selected in one pool does not carry over to another pool.
Model availability is determined by GitHub Copilot and by enterprise policy. If a selected model is no longer available, Horizon Delegate uses the current default model.
Workspace folder
Horizon Delegate works in one selected workspace folder. Horizon Delegate creates and reads files in this folder. The default folder is %USERPROFILE%\HorizonDelegate. Users can also select their home folder or any other folder that exists and that they can access.
Changing the workspace folder does not move, copy, or delete conversation history. When a user resumes a conversation that started in a different workspace folder, Horizon Delegate continues in the current folder and shows a one-time notice.
Attachments, screen capture, and voice input
- If the administrator allows screen capture, users can capture the full remote desktop or a selected region and send up to four captures with a request.
- If the administrator allows voice input, users can speak a request. The transcript appears in the message box so that the user can review it before sending.
The welcome prompts will be shown in the default page of Horizon delegate Client UI after configured.
For the related settings, see Horizon Delegate Group Policy Settings.
Copy responses
If the administrator allows copy text, a copy control copies an entire message or the end user can select the message to copy part of it. By default, users cannot copy text from the conversation.
Connectors
The Connectors panel lists the MCP servers that are available to the user and their status. Users can turn a connector on or off and start its sign-in when it requires one. See Deploying Enterprise MCP Servers for Horizon Delegate.
Diagnose desktop performance
Users can ask Horizon Delegate why their remote desktop is slow. To run a focused diagnosis, users can enter /doctor. Session Doctor uses live session information, such as network and display protocol data, to explain the cause in plain language.
Example tasks
Users can ask Horizon Delegate to complete tasks in the remote desktop, for example:
- Create an image and set it as the desktop background.
- Run a read-only health check of the remote desktop and summarize the results.
- Open and play a video file in a folder.
- Read a document in a folder and create a slide presentation from it.
