Control the Visibility of Writable Volumes UI

When App Volumes is used in a non-persistent virtual desktop environment, Writable Volumes can be assigned to a user in addition to application packages. By default, the UI elements for Writable Volumes are not visible in the App Volumes Manager console for a fresh install of App Volumes. The visibility of these UI elements can be controlled using the Show Writable Volumes toggle.

The toggle is an advanced setting in the CONFIGURATIONS tab. To make these UI elements visible in the App Volumes Manager console, the toggle must be turned on. As a result, all the Writable Volumes UI elements are seen in the console. To successfully hide the UI elements in the console, you must remove any unused Writable Volumes before turning off the toggle. However, turning off the toggle does not affect the Writable Volumes functionalities. All related virtualization, backup functions, and APIs continue operating normally.

Note:

  • If you have upgraded from an earlier version of App Volumes, all the UI elements for Writable Volumes continue to remain visible in the App Volumes Manager console.

  • If Writable Volumes are created using APIs and in the subsequent session when the administrator logs to App Volumes Manager, then the Show Writable Volumes toggle is automatically turned on by App Volumes Manager and the related UI elements are visible in the console. The remaining tasks for Writable Volumes can be performed using the App Volumes Manager admin console.

For information about Writable Volumes, see Working with Writable Volumes. For information about the Show Writable Volumes toggle, see App Volumes Manager Configuration Settings Page.
