Collect Diagnostic Information for a Linux Virtual Machine

You can collect diagnostic information to help Technical Support diagnose and resolve issues with a Linux virtual machine that you are using to provision remote Horizon 8 resources. You create a Data Collection Tool (DCT) bundle that gathers the machine's configuration information and logs into a compressed tarball.

Procedure

1. Log in to the Linux virtual machine as a user with the required privileges.

2. Open a command prompt and locate the dct-debug.sh script (typically in a bin directory within the /usr/ structure).

3. Change directories to the location of that dct-debug.sh script.

4. Run the dct-debug.sh script.

   sudo dct-debug.sh
   

Results

The script generates a tarball that contains the DCT bundle. For example:

ubuntu-18-vdm-sdct-20190201-0606-agent.tgz

The tarball is generated in the directory from which the script was executed (the current working directory).
