Workspace ONE Launcher Release Notes provides information on the new features and improvement in each release. This page includes summaries of the new features, resolved, and known issues reported in the latest version.

Workspace ONE Launcher 26.08

New Features

Apply Launcher Branding Immediately After Device Enrollment: Launcher now displays your organization's branding on the CICO/login screen immediately after device enrollment, rather than waiting for the first login or guest checkout. This requires a guest profile with a title bar icon configured — Launcher uses that image for the CICO screen.
Support Separate Branding Images for Launcher Header and Login Screen: Admins can configure distinct images for the title bar and the main login screen, so a single image no longer has to compromise between the two layouts. This is configured through the console (DDUI) rather than custom XML. Full support requires Workspace ONE UEM Console 26.09.
Alternative Exit Method for Single App Mode (Admin Access): Single App Mode now supports a secure hardware-based method for entering Admin Mode as an alternative to the floating home button: pressing the power button in an OFF -> ON -> OFF -> ON sequence within 3 seconds brings up the admin passcode dialog over the pinned app. If PIN/Lock authentication is configured, the admin dialog appears after the user completes that authentication. This behavior is built in and enabled by default in Single App Mode — no custom XML configuration is required.
Allow Access to Admin Mode from Inactivity and PIN Lock Screens: Admins can now enter Admin Mode directly from the inactivity lock screen or the PIN lock screen, providing a recovery path for troubleshooting a locked or offline device without requiring a factory reset. This behavior is enabled by default for all customers; there is no custom XML setting to control it.
Add Logout Option and Username Display on PIN Authentication Screen: The PIN re-authentication screen (introduced in 26.03) now displays the currently logged-in username and includes a Logout option, matching the existing behavior on the inactivity screen. Enabled automatically wherever PIN re-authentication is already configured.
Allow Apps to Rotate While Keeping the Launcher Canvas Locked to the Selected Orientation Building on the existing Launcher canvas orientation lock, apps can now rotate freely with the physical device orientation while the Launcher canvas itself remains locked to the configured orientation. When the user exits the app and returns to Launcher, the canvas returns to its locked orientation.
Numeric Keyboard for CICO Username Entry: Admins can now configure the username field on the Launcher CICO login screen to display a numeric keyboard by default — useful for organizations where employee IDs are numeric. Users can still switch to the standard keyboard if needed, and the password field is unaffected and always displays the standard keyboard. This applies to native Workspace ONE UEM authentication on the CICO screen.
Email Logging Support: Adds an "Email Logs" option in Support Settings that opens the device's default email app with the recipient address pre-filled from a UEM-configured value (or a default address if none is set). Users can edit the recipient before sending. Requires the Launcher allowlist to permit the intent chooser and include an email client (canvas or hidden app list).
Omnissa Intelligence SDK 26.5.0: Adds new device telemetry attributes: altitude and altitude accuracy, location accuracy radius (location permission required), battery cycle count (Android 14+), and cellular data enabled state. Also improves the accuracy of network latency reporting and fixes a WebView JavaScript injection issue on Android 9 and earlier.
Omnissa Rebranding Trademark Symbol Updates: Updates the Omnissa logo across Launcher screens to reflect current brand guidelines.
Legal Section Update: Updates the Legal section under About to reflect current Omnissa copyright, legal terms, privacy notice, open-source notices, and patent information.

Workspace ONE Launcher 26.05

New Features

Granular Settings Control in Launcher: Admins can now choose which Launcher Settings items are shown to users. This allows admins to curate the settings list to match their workflow and limit exposure to only the options users need.
Optional Logout on Device Reboot: To improve device security, admins can now configure Launcher to automatically log out the active user when a device reboots instead of suspending the session. This helps shared devices return to a secure state after restart.
Hide the “For You” Page from Launcher: Admins can now hide the “For You” page entry point from Launcher. For organizations that do not use this experience, this provides more Home screen real estate and limits access to unused parts of the application.
Hide the “Log Off” Button in Launcher Settings: Admins can now hide the “Log Off” button from Launcher Settings. This is useful for organizations using third-party login and logout workflows, such as Imprivata MDA, where exposing a separate Launcher logout action could disrupt the intended workflow.
Docking Event Action Enhancement for Inactivity Enforcement: Launcher now includes an enhancement to docking event actions. Previously, admins could log out a user when a device was docked. With this update, admins can instead invoke the previously configured inactivity rules, helping secure the device while maintaining the user session.

New Features

Quick PIN Re-Authentication for Shared Devices: Shared device deployments now support Quick PIN re-authentication, allowing users to unlock the inactivity screen using their PIN. This improves usability in frontline environments where devices frequently transition between locked and active states.
Configurable Header Font Size: Administrators can now configure the Launcher header (title bar) font size to improve readability across different device sizes and operational environments. Supported font size options include: EXTRA_SMALL, SMALL, MEDIUM, or LARGE.
Actionable Widget – Reboot Device: Launcher now includes an actionable widget that allows administrators to place a reboot device widget directly on the Launcher canvas. This provides device users with easier access to restart the device without leaving the canvas.
Extended App Data Clear Triggers: Launcher now supports expanded triggers for automatically clearing application data during key device lifecycle events. This helps ensure sensitive application data does not persist between shared device sessions. Supported triggers include device unlock, device reboot, and power connection events.

ALAU-174328: Resolved an issue where the status bar and notification bar behavior on the CICO screen could not be properly controlled. Administrators can now configure visibility of these elements to maintain a controlled kiosk experience while allowing required system visibility.
ALAU-174316: Resolved an issue where missing Launcher profiles could result in unclear messaging. Launcher now displays clearer error messages to help administrators identify configuration issues more easily.
ALAU-173184: Resolved an issue where Wi-Fi settings pages could be blocked by Launcher restrictions on certain Samsung tablet devices.
ALAU-174497: Resolved an issue where Chrome could fail to open multiple web links in separate tabs when launched from Launcher.
ALAU-174501: Resolved an issue on Zebra devices where popup notifications could cause portions of the screen to become unresponsive.

New Features

Logout Widget for CICO Mode: New interactive widget allows users to quickly log out from the Home screen. Available only in Shared Device (Check-In/Check-Out) mode and configurable via the Launcher profile.
Secondary App Support in Single App Mode: Admins can now allow a second app to temporarily launch over the primary pinned app. Users return to the original app via screen unlock or a secure floating action button.
Low Battery Sound Alert with Admin Control: Launcher plays a one-time sound alert when the battery drops below a configurable threshold. Admins can define a custom sound or use the default system tone. Alerts respect device volume/DND settings and are logged for telemetry.
Workspace ONE SDK Upgrade to 25.02.4: Launcher now integrates SDK version 25.02.4 delivering improved stability, security updates, and enhanced compatibility with Workspace ONE UEM and Hub.
Auto-Allow Zebra FOTA Helper Apps in CICO Mode: Launcher now automatically allowlists essential system apps (like Zebra Enrollment Manager) during Check-In/Check-Out to support OTA workflows without manual setup.

New “Clear App Data” Widget Empowers End Users: Admins can now add a Clear App Data widget to the Launcher Canvas, providing end users with a fast, self-service way to reset app data without involving IT. Especially valuable in shared-use environments where devices are not configured for Check-In/Check-Out, this widget gives users confidence that their session data has been cleared before handing off to the next person. Designed for COSU, Shared, and Single App modes, it includes confirmation prompts and honors exclusion rules for safe and controlled usage.
Insightful Logging for “Reload Profile” Button Press: Launcher now captures and reports taps on the “Reload Profile” button, unlocking visibility into user behavior and potential misconfiguration trends. This telemetry supports deeper analytics in Workspace ONE Intelligence and helps surface recurring issues faster.

ALAU-174107: Resolved an issue where internal app icons did not appear in Launcher Template Mode configurations on Work Managed devices.
ALAU-173964: Fixed an issue where notification badges remained on app icons within Launcher even after notifications were viewed.
ALAU-173818: Resolved an issue where device font settings applied via Zebra DisplayMgr were reset to default on checkout causing Launcher to retain admin-configured font size.
ALAU-173963: Resolved an issue where Event Actions configured with Run Intent at checkout were suppressed when the Launcher profile reapplied. The intent now remains active post-checkout as expected.

New Features

Respect User Consent Preferences for Data Collection in Workspace ONE Launcher Launcher now adheres to user consent preferences selected in Hub when collecting data. If the user has opted out of data collection, then Launcher will prevent telemetry or background data collection actions accordingly.
Enable Font Size Adjustment in Workspace ONE Launcher Users can now apply system-level font size settings within Launcher. This ensures accessibility settings configured via Android system settings reflect within Launcher UI.
Enhanced Section Labels for Improved User Visibility and Grouping Launcher now supports detailed customization of section headers in multi-app canvas mode. Admins can use labels and groupings to improve visual segmentation and user navigation.
Enhanced Speed Lock Usability for Driver Safety When a device exits speed lock mode (used in vehicle settings), the last-used application will automatically reopen. This improves safety and continuity for drivers.
Access to Wi-Fi Settings in Inactivity Authentication Screen The inactivity authentication screen now includes a shortcut to Wi-Fi settings enabling users to connect to networks without exiting the session or requiring full access.
Control Sound Behavior for Logout Notification Logout notifications triggered by Launcher no longer plays sounds repeatedly. This reduces noise and distraction for shared devices that log users out frequently.

Hiding Notifications for Specific Applications: A new capability to hide notifications for selected applications preventing users from accessing settings through notifications that could allow manipulation of other apps. This feature enhances security and restriction control.
Intel SDK: New Mobile DEX Data sent to Intelligence:
- Daily App Usage and Performance metrics for all apps on the device. Requires query all packages and usage access permissions to be granted.

ALAU-173763: Fix for Clear App Data on Android 8 and Below: Resolved an issue where enabling "Clear App Cache" in the Launcher profile did not properly clear contacts data after check-in on devices running Android 8 and below.

Workspace ONE Launcher 24.11

New Features

Expanded Inactivity Timer for Third-Party IDP Support - We’ve broadened the scope of the inactivity timer to now seamlessly support third-party IDPs in addition to UEM authentication. This enhancement ensures greater flexibility and adaptability for diverse authentication needs.
Admin Mode Auto-Timeout for Elevated Security - Admin Mode now features an automatic timeout which introduces a seamless transition back to user mode to safeguard against unauthorized privileged actions and enhance device security. Note: This feature applies to all Launcher modes (shared device, guest, vendor, single app, and offline modes). The timer value is measured in minutes, and it is recommended to configure this setting at the organization level rather than the user level for optimal management.
Enhanced Navigation with Bottom Bar on Launcher Canvas - Introducing a sleek bottom navigation bar for the Launcher home screen pages. This update ensures navigation buttons (back, home, recent apps) remain clearly visible, even against background images, by adding a consistent polished background color. Note: Since the navigation bar color parameter is not supported in the DDUI profile (UEM), customers currently using the DDUI profile for branding will need to transition. To apply the new navigation bar color, the DDUI profile should be updated by removing it and incorporating the new XML configuration into the custom settings profile.
MSAL Support for Launcher - We've added integration for Microsoft Authentication Library (MSAL) to Launcher.

Note: This update contains only part of the work needed for MSAL functionality. The full MSAL feature will not be functional until other dependent components are completed, specifically a future supported UEM release. Please refer to Workspace ONE UEM release notes for details on when the required UEM version will be available.
Intel SDK Upgrade to Version 24.8.0 - Updated to the latest Intel SDK (v24.8.0) for improved performance and compatibility.
Minimum SDK Requirement Raised to Version 26 - Increased the minimum SDK requirement to version 26 ensuring better performance and access to newer Android features.
Branding Updates Reflecting Transition to Omnissa - Updated branding across the platform to align with our rebranding as Omnissa.

Resolved Issues

ALAU-172768: Launcher Foreground Issue Resolution: Addressed an issue where the Launcher would immediately return to the foreground upon exit due to a known Android system limitation in clearing the Launcher as the default home app.

As a workaround, Launcher version 24.11 includes a fix to prevent this behavior when exiting the Launcher. Note: Pressing the home button will still cause the Launcher to return to the foreground, as this is an Android system-level limitation that requires resolution by Google.
ALAU-173511: Usage Access Permission Screen Fix: Fixed an issue where the usage access permission screen would appear despite the skipUsageAccess configuration in the Launcher profile. The launcher now respects this setting to avoid unnecessary prompts.
ALAU-173556: Removal of System Keyboard Settings Icon on Zebra Devices: Removed access to the system keyboard settings ("gear") icon on Zebra devices within the Launcher which prevents unintended access to keyboard properties in managed environments.
ALAU-173762: Fixed Notification Foreground Issue in Launcher: Resolved an issue where clicking on a notification in the Launcher Canvas did not bring the associated app to the foreground.

Shared Device Notification and Logout Action from Lock Screen

To enhance efficiency for end-users, we are pleased to introduce new features for shared devices. Users can now be notified about who has checked out the device, and have the ability to log out the current user directly from the lock screen. Additionally, the notification verbiage can be customized by administrators, ensuring clear and effective communication with their users.

Device Brightness on Zebra Device

In this release, we have enhanced the functionality for adjusting device brightness on Zebra devices. By utilizing native Zebra APIs, we have streamlined the process, eliminating any additional prompts that previously required user acceptance. This ensures a smoother and more intuitive experience when configuring device brightness.

Admin Ability to Customize Verbiage on Device Passcode Screen

As part of our continuous effort to provide administrators with greater flexibility in designing a tailored user experience, we are pleased to introduce the ability to customize the verbiage on the device passcode screen. This enhancement allows admins to modify the text to better align with their specific requirements and vision.

We're excited to unveil the enhanced 'Speed Lock' feature in this update! Now, with our improved Speed Lock functionality, administrators can configure a more versatile experience for devices on the go. Previously, the feature restricted device use while in motion; now, it intelligently displays essential applications such as maps, ensuring convenience and safety for users navigating while traveling.

Notification Handling Enhancement in Launcher

Launcher now boasts improved notification management, offering a more intuitive experience. Users will notice that multiple notifications are displayed simultaneously, rather than just the latest one. Additionally, clearing notifications will no longer occur automatically if only one notification within a group has been read.

Reporting Blocked Activities in Launcher

We've initiated the reporting of activities blocked by Launcher to UEM. This new functionality empowers administrators to gain detailed insights into all blocked activities on each device. This visibility aids in troubleshooting and facilitates informed decisions regarding the optimal implementation of new applications within Launcher.

Unpair Bluetooth Devices on Check-in

In our ongoing commitment to enhance the Shared Device experience, we are pleased to introduce a new feature aimed at improving the separation of peripherals, such as Bluetooth keyboards and headsets, on Shared Devices. With this update, peripherals connected during a shared device session will automatically unpair when the device is checked in. This ensures that the next user will enjoy a completely fresh session providing them with the opportunity to seamlessly connect their own peripherals

Control Device Brightness

We recognize that device brightness is a subjective choice for users. Nevertheless, administrators may find it necessary to periodically reset the recommended brightness, particularly in shared devices. With our latest update, you can now configure a feature that lets you set a preferred brightness level. This setting will be automatically applied each time the device receives the configuration, ensuring consistent brightness across shared devices as per the administrator's choice

Launcher UI String Customization

In our ongoing commitment to enhance Launcher customization, we're pleased to announce a new feature that empowers administrators to customize the error text displayed when unauthorized access to the Launcher canvas is attempted. This enhancement provides greater flexibility for tailoring user experience and ensuring a seamless and personalized interface.

Latest Intel SDK Upgraded

In this release of Launcher, we have incorporated the most recent version of the intelligence SDK bringing significant enhancements to logging and data capture. This update ensures more accurate tracking when the device is shaken and when there are network changes, including transitions between 4G and 5G connections. These improvements contribute to a more robust and responsive user experience.

Prior Version is Installed: The admin can decide when to push the app once it is available on the Workspace ONE UEM console as a seeded application.
- For devices that support silent install of applications, the Launcher application seamlessly updates over the existing application version without disrupting device enterprise functionality. For devices that do not support silent install of applications, the users will be prompted to install the new version.
- For Android 6.0 and above, the user will be prompted to grant permission for the Launcher to have access to the Usage Data, if they have not already granted the permissions.
- For Android 5.0, the users will be prompted to grant permissions for Launcher to have access to Usage Data only if the admin has pushed a profile requiring the user to do so (more details present in previous technical bulletins).
Prior Version is Not Installed: Once the admin decides to push the Workspace ONE Launcher to the devices, the Launcher gets downloaded to the device as a seeded application.
- For Samsung SAFE devices, the Launcher will be setup without any end user interaction and the native launcher will be replaced by Workspace ONE Launcher. For non-SAFE devices, the user will be directed through a two-step process to set the Workspace ONE Launcher as the default Launcher.
- For Android 6.0 and above, the user will be prompted to grant permission for the Launcher to have access to the Usage Data, if they have not already granted the permissions.
- For Android 5.0, the users will be prompted to grant permissions for Launcher to have access to Usage Data only if the admin has pushed a profile requiring the user to do so (more details present in previous technical bulletins).
