Unset a Marker on an App Volumes Package

When a marker is set on a package, that marker remains unavailable for any other package in that application. If you want to move this marker from one package to another or remove the marker from the package, then you use the UNSET MARKER functionality.

Note: The CURRENT marker remains available even if it is already set on a package. When you set this marker on a second package, then the CURRENT marker is automatically unset from the first package.

When a marker is removed from a package, the following occurs depending on the assignment type:

  • Entities which have the assignment type as Marker stop receiving the package.

For example: A user has an assignment with target UAT (UAT is set on a package), hence user receives this package at login. When the UAT marker is unset from the package, then the assignment remains unchanged but the user stops getting package.

  • Entities with Multiple assignment type continue receiving the application version they have chosen for that user session. When they log off and log in back, they no longer see the application.
For more information about this assignment type, see Understanding Multiple Assignments.

If this package is in a synchronization relationship with a package on a source instance and the marker synchronization setting is activated on the source, you cannot perform the UNSET MARKER operation for this package from this instance. The unset marker operation is deactivated on the target and can be performed only from the source instance by using the Manage Source button.

For more information about the manage source feature, see Manage a Synchronized App Volumes Application at the Source. For information about marker synchronization criteria, see Criteria for Application Synchronization.

Procedure

  1. From App Volumes Manager, go to INVENTORY > Packages.

  2. Expand the package details of the desired package.

  3. Click UNSET MARKER.

  4. In the Unset Marker window, from the Marker drop-down, select the marker that you intend to remove or unset.

Note: If this package is set with the CURRENT marker and is delivered as a Omnissa Horizon published application, then removing the marker on the package results in the user not receiving the application from Omnissa Horizon Client.

For more information about how an Omnissa App Volumes application is delivered as a published application on demand, see Configure Horizon 8 for Published Applications Delivery section in the Windows Desktops and Applications in Horizon documentation at Omnissa Product Documentation.

  5. Click SAVE.

Marker is removed from the package.
