Search in DEM Management Console

The Search feature provides administrators with options to find and track configuration information.

The Search dialog contains two tabs that serve different purposes:

• Configuration Files - Search for specific information across configuration files
• Version History - Search and audit configuration version changes over time

Configuration Files Tab

Administrators can find specific information across configuration files in the DEM Management Console. Based on the search results, administrators can easily navigate to the config files that contain the search term and take appropriate actions such as viewing, updating, or deleting config files.

Using Configuration Files Search

1. Open the Search dialog and navigate to the Configuration Files tab.

   Options	Description
   Scope	Controls the types of config files being processed in the search.
   Search in	Controls the fields of a config file that are to be searched.
   Search	Type the text that is to be searched.
   Regular expression	Controls whether a simple text based search or a regular expression search is performed.
   Match case	Controls the search result to only find the config files that match specific capitalization.
   Match whole word only	Controls the search result to avoid partial matches.

2. Click the search icon to execute the search.

3. Double-click on a search result to navigate to that config file in the DEM Management Console.

Information Excluded from Search

The following information is not in scope of the search:

• Contents of predefined settings
• Contents of Files and Folders user environment settings
• Contents of Registry Settings user environment settings
• Contents of Application Migration templates
• Downloadable configuration templates

Version History Tab

The Version History tab is a centralized search and audit interface in the DEM Management Console for administrators to quickly search, review, and track configuration version changes. This feature provides a single-window interface for monitoring all configuration modifications, eliminating the need to manually navigate through every tab in the console to audit the changes.

Using Version History Search

1. Open the Search dialog and navigate to the Version History tab.

   Option	Description
   Scope	Controls the types of config files being processed in the search.
   User	(Optional) Enter a user name/partial user name to filter changes by a specific administrator.
   Date Range	Choose a date range using the preset options or select "Custom" for a specific time period.

2. Click the Search button to execute the search.

3. Double-click the search result.

Result

The Version History tab shows two versions - the version before the specified time interval and the latest version at the end of the interval. You can manually select any other version from the list to compare as needed.
