Because large enterprises must often perform phased upgrades, Horizon 8 components are designed to be somewhat forward and backward compatible during upgrades.
In general, the following versions are supported for upgrading to Horizon 8:

You can upgrade from any version of Horizon 8.x to any other version of Horizon 8.x, provided that the destination version was released after the release date of the source version to be upgraded.
For example, you can upgrade from version 2106 (8.3) to version 2312 (8.12).

You can upgrade from Horizon 7 version 7.13.x to Horizon 8 version 2303 and later.
For more detailed information, refer to the Omnissa Product Upgrade Path matrix. (To see Horizon 7 version 7.13.x entries at that site, ensure you clear the Hide Legacy Releases check box.)
IMPORTANT: Special considerations apply when upgrading from Horizon 8 2406 or earlier to Horizon 8 2412 or later. For more information, see Upgrading to Omnissa Horizon 8 2412 and Later.
To determine the latest maintenance release of a particular component, see the Release Notes for that release, available from https://docs.omnissa.com.
In general, it is recommended that you install the same version of Omnissa Horizon Connection Server as the Horizon Agent in your environment. Though a later version of Horizon Connection Server is supported with an earlier version of Horizon Agent during a pod upgrade, it is preferable to upgrade the Horizon Agent version to the same version as the Horizon Connection Server as soon as possible.

Starting with the 2312 Extended Service Branch (ESB) release, the above is still true, however we also intend to support future "Current Release" (CR) Agents with a previously released ESB Server (see Note below). This will hold true until a new ESB release is available, at which time you can hold on Agent updates or upgrade to a newer ESB Server version for support for future CR agent upgrades.
Note: We may need to skip supporting some "Current Release" agent releases if there are any technical limitations in providing backward compatibility with the previously released ESB release server.
