Selecting Preferred Webcams and Microphones

If a client computer has more than one webcam and microphone, you can configure a preferred webcam and microphone that Real-Time Audio-Video redirects to the remote desktop or published application. These devices can be built in or connected to the client computer.

Real-Time Audio-Video redirects the preferred webcam if it is available. If the preferred webcam is not available, Real-Time Audio-Video uses the first webcam that is provided by system enumeration.

  • Windows client computer

Select a preferred webcam or microphone by configuring Real-Time Audio-Video settings in the Omnissa Horizon Client Settings dialog box.

  • Mac client computer

Specify a preferred webcam or microphone by using the Mac defaults system. For more information, see the Horizon Client for Max Guide.

  • Linux client computer

Specify a preferred webcam by editing a configuration file. To select a default microphone, you can configure the Sound control in the Linux operating system on the client computer. For more information, see the Horizon Client for Linux Guide.

  • Horizon Client for Chrome

The default webcam and microphone are determined by the browser and operating system settings on the client device. To change the default microphone, use the sound settings in the operating system of the client device. For more information, see the Horizon Client for Chrome Guide.

  • Horizon Web Client

The default webcam and microphone are determined by the browser and operating system settings on the client device. To change the default microphone, use the sound settings in the operating system of the client device. For more information, see the Horizon Web Client Guide.

Redirected Device Names in Remote Sessions

For each compatible device built in or connected to the client system, the Real-Time Audio-Video feature creates a corresponding virtual device in the remote session.

The following table lists the device names for virtual redirected devices as they appear in remote sessions, depending on the agent software running on the remote desktop and the client software running on the local system.
