Upgrading Omnissa Access with Minimal Downtime

With a multi-data center deployment, you can upgrade Omnissa Access to the next version with minimal downtime. Use this suggested workflow for rolling updates.

Refer to the diagram in Deploying Omnissa Access in a Secondary Data Center for Failover and Redundancy as you follow these steps.

Important: During upgrade of the multi-data center deployment, you can only use the Global Load Balancer (gateway.hostname) URL to reach the Omnissa Access appliance.

Procedure

  1. Switch routing on the Global Load Balancer to send the requests to the Data Center 2 Load Balancer.

  2. Stop database replication.

  3. Update the Omnissa Access-1 virtual appliance, then update the Omnissa Access-2 virtual appliance, and then update the Omnissa Access-3 virtual appliance.

  4. Switch the routing on the Global Load Balancer to send the requests to the Data Center 1 Load Balancer.

  5. Test functionality using Data Center 1 Load Balancer.

  6. Start database replication.

  7. Update the Omnissa Access-4 virtual appliance, then update the Omnissa Access-5 virtual appliance, and then update the Omnissa Access-6 virtual appliance.

  8. Switch routing on the Global Load Balancer to send the requests to the Data Center 2 Load Balancer.

  9. Test functionality using Data Center 2 Load Balancer.

  10. Switch routing on the Global Load Balancer to send the requests to the Data Center 1 Load Balancer.
