Windows cannot find ‘path to .lnk shortcut’. Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again

Problem

Sometimes when launching an application with multiple package versions (assigned using the Multiple assignment type) from the version selection window, after selecting the desired version and launching the application, the end user might see the following error message: Windows cannot find ‘path to .lnk shortcut’. Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again and the icon associated with the desired version might not be displayed in the version selection window.

Cause

This error occurs if the application shortcut path associated with the selected version of the application is different from the initial shortcut published for the application. As a result, application launch fails because of the shortcut path mismatch, but the application is successfully delivered to the agent computer.

Workaround

After the end user clicks OK and dismisses the error message, the selected application is delivered and the shortcut related to the application is available. End user can then click the desired shortcut and launch the application successfully. Since the selected application is delivered to the user's computer, the application can be subsequently launched using shortcuts created at standard locations such as Desktop, Start Menu, and so on.
