You can perform a restart operation on a virtual desktop, which performs a graceful operating system restart of the virtual machine. You can perform a reset operation on a virtual machine without the graceful operating system restart, which performs a hard power-off and power-on of the virtual machine.
VMs maintain their network assignment when a restart or reset operation is performed.

| Agent Unreachable | VM is loaded, but the agent is not responding. Either boot still in progress or shutting down or lost network connection. |
| Available | Agent is available. |
| Suspended | This state is applicable to Amazon WorkSpaces Core machines in an automated desktop pool where a power management schedule is configured. In the power management schedule, you specify a suspend time and a resume time for the pool's machines. When suspended, the Windows guest is essentially hibernating. Any running applications, open file, and the like are preserved and will be available to the end user when the instance is resumed.

Procedure

In Horizon Console, select Inventory > Machines.

Choose the tab that corresponds to the type of machine you want to restart or reset:
- vCenter tab to work with vSphere-based machines
- Capacity Providers tab to work with Amazon WorkSpaces Core machines

Then select the machine or machines and choose the action.
Option Description Restart Desktop Restarts the virtual machine with a graceful operating system restart. This action applies only to an automated pool or a manual pool that contains vCenter Server virtual machines.
**Note:** For an Amazon WorkSpaces Core machine, if the machine is in a suspended state, this action is grayed out. Before a suspended machine can be restarted, it must be in the Available state.Reset Virtual Machine Resets the virtual machine without a graceful operating system restart. This action applies only to an automated pool or a manual pool that contains vCenter Server virtual machines. -
Click OK.
