The operation of Horizon 8 depends on several services that run on a Connection Server host.
Horizon 8 Connection Server Host Services

| Omnissa Horizon Blast Secure Gateway | Automatic | Provides secure Horizon Web Client and Blast Extreme services. This service must be running if clients connect to Connection Server through the Blast Secure Gateway. |
| Omnissa Horizon Connection Server | Automatic | Provides connection broker services. This service must always be running. If you start or stop this service, it also starts or stops the Framework, Message Bus, Security Gateway, and Web services. This service does not start or stop the OmnissaHzeDS service or the Omnissa Horizon Script Host service. |
| Omnissa Horizon CRL Prefetcher | Disabled | Downloads and stores Certificate Revocation Lists (CRLs) from CRL Distribution Point (CDP) URLs when the CRL distribution points are not directly accessible to the Connection Server. |
| Omnissa Horizon Framework Manager | Manual | Provides event logging, security, and COM+ framework services. This service must always be running. |
| Omnissa Horizon Log Collector | Manual | Generates and manages log collection tasks and downloads log bundles. |
| Omnissa Horizon Message Bus | Manual | Provides messaging services between the Horizon 8 components. This service must always be running. |
| Omnissa Horizon PCoIP Security Gateway | Manual | Provides PCoIP Secure Gateway services. This service must be running if clients connect to Connection Server through the PCoIP Secure Gateway. |
| Omnissa Horizon Script Host | Disabled | Provides support for third-party scripts that run when you delete virtual machines. This service is deactivated by default. You should activate this service if you want to run scripts. |
| Omnissa Horizon Secure Gateway | Manual | Provides common gateway services. This service must always be running. |
| Omnissa Horizon Servlet Host | Manual | Provides web services. This service must always be running. |
| OmnissaHzeDS | Automatic | Provides Horizon LDAP services. This service must always be running. During upgrades of Horizon 8, this service ensures that existing data is migrated correctly. |
