Starting with Horizon DaaS 9.2.3 the Tenant Administrator can create new floating and dedicated pools without utilizing vGPU resources in a vGPU-enabled cluster environment, thus ensuring vGPU resource distribution and effective management of GPU resources.
In the New Desktop Assignment window in vCenter there is a new None option in the vGPU profile list, which allows you to filter out gold patterns that do not include a vGPU profile. When selected, you are able to create desktop pools utilizing both Traditional Clone and Instant Clone gold patterns in a GPU-enabled environments without consuming vGPU resources.
Notes:
-
Powering ON an event will fail if the required GPU resource is not available, and a warning message displays indicating the cause of failure.
-
For existing vGPU-enabled tenants, the Service Provider Administrator must apply vGPU changes on the appliance using the Update Compute Resource option for the tenant desktop in vCenter. This should be done as soon as the customer applies the rollup on their setup as this will re-calculate the GPU resource consumption for the existing tenant.
