A display protocol provides end users with a graphical interface to a remote desktop or application that resides in the data center. Depending on which type of client device you have, you can choose from among Omnissa Horizon Blast Extreme and PCoIP (PC-over-IP), which Omnissa provides, or Microsoft RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol).
You can set policies to control which protocol is used or to allow end users to choose the protocol when they log in to a desktop.
Note: For some types of clients, neither the PCoIP nor the RDP remote display protocol is used. For example, if you use Omnissa Horizon Web Client, the Horizon Blast Extreme protocol is used, rather than PCoIP or RDP. Similarly, if you use a remote Linux desktop, Horizon Blast Extreme is used.
Note: Horizon Web Client is available with Horizon 8 versions 2412 and later. For Horizon 8 versions 2406 and earlier, Horizon Web Client is called "HTML Access." This documentation page uses the name "Horizon Web Client" to refer to both Horizon Web Client and HTML Access.
