Create and Configure a Site in Horizon Console

If your Cloud Pod Architecture topology contains multiple pods, you might want to group those pods into different sites. The Cloud Pod Architecture feature treats pods in the same site equally.

Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Horizon Console user interface for any Connection Server instance in the pod federation.

  2. Create the site.

    a. In Horizon Console, select Settings > Sites and click Add.

    b. Type a name for the site in the Name text box. The site name can contain between 1 and 64 characters.

    c. In the URL text box, enter the predefined URL to be used for Home Site Redirection. This is target location to which the user will be redirected.

    d. Type a description of the site in the Description text box.

    e. (Optional) In the Preferred Sites list, select the sites to search when this site cannot satisfy a desktop or application request, and rank them in the order you want Horizon 8 to search them. Preferred sites take effect only for global desktop and global application entitlements that are scoped to All Sites and that have the Use Preferred Sites option selected. See Preferred Sites and Cloud Pod Architecture in Horizon 8.

    f. To create the site, click OK.

  3. Add a pod to the site.

Repeat this step for each pod to add to the site.

    a. In Horizon Console, select Settings > Sites.

    b. Select the site that currently contains the pod to add to the site.

    c. Select the pod to add to the site and click Edit.

    d. Select the site from the Site drop-down menu and click OK.
