Stop and Start Horizon Services

The operation of Horizon Connection Server instances depends on several services that run on the system. You might sometimes find it necessary to stop and start these services manually when troubleshooting problems with the operation of Horizon.

When you stop Horizon services, end users cannot connect to their remote desktops and applications. You should perform such an action at a time that is already scheduled for system maintenance, or warn end users that their desktops and applications will be unavailable temporarily.

Note: Stop only the Horizon Connection Server service on a Horizon Connection Server host. Do not stop any other component services.

Prerequisites

Familiarize yourself with the services that run on Horizon Connection Server hosts as described in Services on a Horizon Connection Server Host in an Horizon 8 Environment.

Procedure

1. Start the Windows Services tool by entering services.msc at the command prompt.

2. Select the Horizon Connection Server service on a Horizon Connection Server host and click Stop, Restart, or Start as appropriate.

3. Verify that the status of the listed service changes as expected.
