Recording File Size Guidelines

Recording file size guidelines are as follows.

Recording Duration: The duration from user logon to user logoff.

Active Time: Amount of time the user interacted with the application or desktop. This is always less than or equal to the Recording Duration.

Reference Workload: LoginVSI Knowledge Worker workload running in the session to simulate the customer workload.

Note: The data in this table is provided only as a guideline. The size will vary based on the application that is running, the frequency of keyboard strokes, mouse movements, screen resizing, frame change rate and so forth.

Installation and Configuration

• By default, the recording server installation points to a local SQLite DB which is suitable only for testing purposes. It is recommended to use MSSQL or PostgreSQL DB for production environments. Please change the DB immediately after installing the recording server and before registering agents with it.
• It is recommended to use separate machines for Recording Server and Recording DB, preferably within the same datacenter and having less latency.

Agent Settings

• When Split Recording is enabled, the “Maximum Recording Duration” can be set to 60 minutes or more for better performance of the Recording Server.
• The “Chunk Size” can be set to 15 MB or more to avoid frequent uploads of the chunks to the recording server.
• The “Upload Interval” can be set to 15 minutes or more to avoid frequent uploads.

Create Log Bundle

For Recording Server:

• Change directory to the Recording Server install directory (e.g., C:\Program Files\Omnissa\Horizon Recording Server)
• Run the PowerShell script hrec-server-support.ps1 as Administrator: PS C:\Program Files\Omnissa\Horizon Recording Server> .\hrec-server-support.ps1

For Windows Recording Agent:

• Change directory to the Windows Recording Agent install directory (e.g., C:\Program Files\Omnissa\Horizon Recording Agent)
• Run the PowerShell script hrec-agent-support.ps1 as Administrator: PS C:\Program Files\Omnissa\Horizon Recording Agent> .\hrec-agent-support.ps1

For Linux Recording Agent:

• Change directory to the Linux Recording Agent install directory (e.g., /usr/lib/omnissa/horizonrecording)
• Run the Shell script hrec-linux-agent-support.sh as follows: /usr/lib/omnissa/horizonrecording/hrec-linux-agent-support.sh
