You must install Horizon Agent on a Windows machine so that Horizon Connection Server can communicate with and manage the machine as a remote desktop or as the source for published applications. Install Horizon Agent on all virtual machines that you use as templates for full-clone desktop pools and golden images for instant-clone desktops, and on the physical or non-vSphere machines that you manage as unmanaged machines.
The Horizon Agent software cannot coexist on the same virtual or physical machine with other Horizon software components, including Connection Server. It can coexist with Horizon Client.
This section describes the system requirements for Horizon Agent for Windows, how to install the agent interactively or silently, how to modify installed components, how to register and install machines using machine credential pairing, and how to upgrade or uninstall the agent.
You can install Horizon Agent interactively by running the installation wizard, or silently by using the Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) to deploy the agent to many virtual machines or physical computers without responding to wizard prompts.
Installing Horizon Agent on a Remote Desktop Services Host
To install Horizon Agent on a Windows Server machine that is configured as a Remote Desktop Services (RDS) host for published desktops and published applications, follow the RDS-specific installation procedure rather than the single-session desktop procedure described in this section.
