Disable or Enable Provisioning in an Automated Farm

When you disable provisioning in an automated farm, Horizon 8 stops provisioning new virtual machines for the published desktop pool that uses an Instant Clone RDS farm. After you disable provisioning, you can enable provisioning again.

Before you change an automated farm's configuration, you can disable provisioning to ensure that no new machines are created with the old configuration. You also can disable provisioning to prevent Horizon 8 from using additional storage when a farm is close to filling up the available space.

This feature debuted in Horizon 8 version 2406.

Procedure

  1. In Horizon Console, select Inventory > Farms.

  2. Select one or more farms and click More Commands.

  3. From the Commands list, select Enable Provisioning or Disable Provisioning to change the status of farm.

    Option Action
Disable Provisioning Prevents new VMs from being created for the published desktop pool that uses an Instant Clone RDS farm. For pools with manually specified VM names, disabling provisioning prevents VM creation but keeps VMs in a provisioning state.
Enable Provisioning Pools that use an Instant Clone RDS farm are made available to users and pool provisioning is started.
  4. Click OK to confirm and continuing with the status change.
