Enable Sysprep Multi-site Capability for Instant Clone Pools and Farms from Horizon Console

Note: This feature is available for Horizon 2412 and later releases.

Administrators can now leverage Microsoft Sysprep guest customization from the Horizon Console without needing to adjust LDAP settings.

Using the Sysprep Auto Discover Site option in Horizon Console, Instant Clones use the Microsoft Sysprep process to auto-discover sites, create computer accounts and join computers to a domain. This eliminates the need to manually enable this feature as described in Enabling Sysprep Guest Customization without pre-created computer account.

Note: If you have already manually enabled this feature globally, then all Instant Clone sysprep pools will use the auto-discover site feature available with Sysprep Guest customization, and the option to manually select a site for the sysprep pool is no longer available.

Procedure

The Auto Discover Site is available for Instant Clone Add/Edit/Duplicate Desktops and Add/Edit Farms tasks.

1. Navigate to Inventory > Desktop.

2. On the Guest Customization page in the wizard, select Use a customization specification (SysPrep).

3. Select Auto Discover Site (the default) in the Site Name field.

   With Auto Discover Site, Instant Clones will use the new Sysprep workflow to customize VMs. You can still select a specific Site Name from the drop-down, but the existing Sysprep workflow will be used.

Note: There is no change for Cloneprep customization. The default customization type for Instant Clone pools is still Cloneprep, and the default site name option for Cloneprep is still Connection Server’s default site. You can still change the customization type between Cloneprep and Sysprep on the Edit Pool page, but a push image is required to apply the change to Customization Type and Site Name.
