Before capturing an intended application, some workflows require installing a primary application on the packaging virtual machine. App Volumes has a capability that allows you to add a prerequisite package when creating or updating the package for the intended application.
During the capture process, this prerequisite is automatically delivered and virtualized in the packaging virtual machine ensuring that the primary application is already present before virtualizing the intended application. This capability simplifies the packaging process by removing the need to manually install the primary application.
Note:

To capture an application which has a prerequisite package, App Volumes agent version 2603 and later must be used.

If an application has multiple dependencies which need to be virtualized in a specific order, when creating or upating the intended package you must add the packages in the same order in which they need to be virtualized.

Adding a prerequisite package to an application does not mean that an application relationship is established with the application intended for capture. As an administrator, you must explicitly define an application relationship using the ADD RELATIONSHIP button.

Applications captured with a prerequisite package can be imported to App Volumes Manager installed with versions earlier than 2603. The primary application must also be imported. To maintain the virtualization order, both applications must be assigned to the entity in the order in which they need to get virtualized.
