This page applies to the use case of using Amazon Workspaces Core as the source for the automated full-clone desktop pool. You can create an automated full-clone desktop pool based on an Amazon WorkSpaces Core bundle that you have prepared for this purpose. Horizon 8 dynamically deploys the desktops, creating new workspaces in Amazon WorkSpaces Core for each desktop.
Prerequisites
- Verify that your Amazon WorkSpaces environment is configured as a capacity provider for your Horizon 8 environment (in Horizon Console's Servers > Capacity Providers).
- Verify you have a prepared Amazon WorkSpaces Core bundle that Horizon 8 can use to create the machines, as described in Creating and Preparing Sources for Automated Desktop Pools.
- Gather the configuration information you must provide to create the pool. See Worksheet for Creating an Automated Full-Clone Desktop Pool.
- If you intend to provide access to your desktops and applications through Omnissa Access, verify that you create the desktop and application pools as a user who has the Administrators role on the root access group in Horizon Console. If you give the user the Administrators role on an access group other than the root access group, Omnissa Access will not recognize the SAML authenticator you configure in Horizon 8, and you cannot configure the pool in Omnissa Access.
Procedure

In Horizon Console, navigate to Inventory > Desktops.

Click Add.

Select Automated Desktop Pool and click Next.

The next step defaults to Full Virtual Machines. Select the Amazon WorkSpaces Core provider you want this pool to use, and click Next.

Using the configuration information you gathered in the worksheet, follow the on-screen prompts to create the pool. You can go directly back to any wizard page by clicking the page name in the navigation pane.
