Use Command-line to Deliver App Volumes Applications

In addition to classic and on-demand package delivery mode options, App Volumes provides options, which is to deliver an application through command-line in real time instead of at user login. The application must be entitled to a user or user group.

To use the command-line options, you must first enable a setting that prevents delivering applications at user login. This setting, Do not deliver at login, is available when entitling the application to a user or user group.

Note: For a successful command-line delivery, the application must have an entitlement and the Do not deliver at login setting must be enabled. Else, the application delivery fails.

The two options for command line delivery are as follows: app deliver and app run. You can use these commands either at the Command Prompt or in a custom script.

app deliver - When the command runs, an entitled application is delivered and virtualized for the current session.

app run - When the command runs, an entitled application is delivered and virtualized for the current session and the application also gets launched. If the application is already delivered or when the command is run subsequently, the application only gets launched.

To copy the app run command, you can use the Copy Command button in the Horizon Universal Console. Perform the following steps:

1. Navigate to App Volumes > Applications.

2. Click the application for which Do not deliver at login setting is enabled.

3. In the application details page, click the App Links tab.

4. In the table, expand the name of the App Link.

5. Locate the Command line section and click the Copy Command button.

The command syntax for each command is as follows:

app deliver

{application_guid} - the GUID of the application that gets delivered and launched

For example: "%svagent%svservice.exe" app deliver {77bf2642-6f23-4baf-af8a-cc882884c721};{88cg3753-7g34-5cbg-bg9b-dd993995d831}

In this example, {77bf2642-6f23-4baf-af8a-cc882884c721}* is the application GUID of Notepad++ and {88cg3753-7g34-5cbg-bg9b-dd993995d831} is the GUID of the Microsoft Office suite. When the command runs, both the applications get attached to the agent computer.

{application_guid} - the GUID of the application that gets delivered and launched

For example: "%svagent%svservice.exe" app run {77bf2642-6f23-4baf-af8a-cc882884c721} "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Notepad++\Notepad++.lnk"

In this example, {77bf2642-6f23-4baf-af8a-cc882884c721} is the application GUID of Notepad++ and C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Notepad++\Notepad++.lnk is the application shortcut. You can also use the exe of the path.
