You can create a new image version in Horizon Cloud by cloning an existing Amazon WorkSpaces Core Bundle Custom Image image version as an incremented major or minor version. This cloning operation is supported only for image versions sourced from an Amazon WorkSpaces Core Bundle Custom Image image. When you have published these cloned image versions successfully to your chosen targets, you can use them to create pool groups.
Prerequisites
Before you clone an image version as an Amazon WorkSpaces Core Bundle Custom Image, ensure the following:
- The parent image is an Amazon WorkSpaces Core Bundle Custom Image and has been published. See Clone an Image as an Amazon WorkSpaces Core Bundle Custom Image.
- The image version intended for cloning must be in an Available or Partially Available state.
Procedure
-
From the Horizon Universal Console, select Images in the left menu.
-
On the Images page, click an image link to list the image versions.
-
Select an image version and click Published > Copy as Image Version.
-
In the General Information section, select one of the following versioning options and click Next:
- Major - Use to upgrade the image, for example, for a different software installation. This increments the major part of the version number.
- Minor - Use to upgrade the image incrementally, for example, for patching or existing software upgrades. This increments the minor part of the version number.
Note: You can create up to 99 major versions, and up to 99 minor versions under any major version, for a combined total of 99 major and minor versions.
-
On the Image Details page, specify the following options:
- User Volume (in GB)
- User Volume Encryption Disks (toggle on or off)
- Root Volume (in GB)
- Root Volume Encryption Disks (toggle on or off)
-
In the Machine Identity (Domain) section, specify a Directory ID.
- The directory must be manually created in the AWS Console under Directory Service and registered in AWS Console > WorkSpaces > Directories.
- For Windows Server images, the WorkSpace directory tenancy must be set to SHARED.
- For Windows 11 images, the WorkSpace directory tenancy must be set to DEDICATED.
-
On the Network page, confirm the VPC, Availability Zones, and Subnets, then click Save.
