Managing Images for Nutanix Provider Deployments

Using Horizon Cloud on Nutanix, administrators create and bring a Nutanix golden image into Horizon Cloud and use that image for desktop and RDSH Edge provisioning. This multi-step process is described here.

Note: Horizon Cloud on Nutanix is currently available in Limited Availability (LA) mode only.

Prerequisites

Create an Image in Horizon Cloud

After you create and register the parent VM (golden image) using the above procedures, create the image in Horizon Cloud.

  1. Log in to Horizon Cloud.

  2. In the left pane navigation, click Images and then click Add > Horizon Cloud > Nutanix.

  3. Enter a new Image Name and optional Description.

  4. Optionally add one or more entries in the Markers section as an association vehicle as described in onscreen help and then click Next.

  5. On the Image Source page, select Nutanix and then click Next. You will then specify information on the Image Details page that is specific to the Nutanix VM template (image) that you created in the above procedures.

  6. On the Image Details page, enter the following information and then click Add.

    • Destination - Horizon Edge: Select the Horizon Edge from the drop-down menu.
    • Destination - Provider: Select the provider from the drop-down menu.
    • VM Details - GPU Type: Select the GPU type for your preferred image as Nvidia or None.
    • VM Details - Pool Type: Select either Single-session or Multi-session.
    • VM Details - VM template: Select the radio button for the Nutanix template that you want to use from the list.
    • VM Details - OS: Select OS type of the selected VM template
    • Admin credentials for VM - User Name: Enter the username for the desktop administrator account.
    • Admin credentials for the VM - Password: Enter the password for the desktop administrator account and confirm the password.

What to do next

Now that you have defined the image for the Nutanix provider type, you are ready to define a pool for its use. See Creating a Pool and Pool Group for Nutanix Provider.
