Launch an Application with Horizon Client

You can launch an application using Horizon Cloud, and include how to install a native Horizon Client if you do not already have one installed on your local client system.

Prerequisites

Before end users can launch their assigned applications, verify that you have entitled published applications for those users, includng the Horizon Universal Console.

Also verify that your end users are using Horizon Client versions that are supported for a Horizon Cloud environment. For related information, see the client section of Requirements Checklist for a Microsoft Azure Edge in Horizon Cloud documentation.

Procedure

1. To reach your assigned application, launch the Horizon portal.

2. If your native system does not already have a Horizon Client installed, you can select Install Horizon Native Client option to automatically be taken to Customer Connect site to download the native client for your operating system.

   When you click Install Horizon Native Client, the browser opens the Customer Connect page for downloading Horizon Clients. Follow the on-screen guidance to download the installer for the native client that matches your system, and install the native client.

3. When installed, launch the Horizon Client.

   The client displays all of the Horizon sites that are currently configured in this Horizon Client.

4. In the displayed set of configured sites, locate the one labeled cloud.omnissahorizon.com and double-click it to connect to the site.

   Note: If this is a first time client installation, or the first time that you are launching an application or desktop from a Horizon Cloud environment, the client will not yet have a site configured for cloud.omnissahorizon.com.

   In this case, you must add the site named cloud.omnissahorizon.com using the client's Add Server button.

   1. If you don't see an icon labeled cloud.omnissahorizon.com, click Add Server to add it.

      The client displays a field to enter cloud.omnissahorizon.com.

      The following screenshot demonstrates the sequence of steps using the Horizon Client for Windows v2303. If you are using another native client or version, the UI might differ from this screenshot. The basic sequence is the same to add the site name (server name) and connect to get an icon for that site in your client.

      Then click Connect to complete adding the site to the Horizon Client.

5. When your client displays the icon for cloud.omnissahorizon.com, double click its icon to connect to the site.

   The UI that displays depends on which native client you are using. For example, the Horizon Client for Windows displays a Sign in dialog, while for the Horizon Client for Chrome, there is no Sign in dialog.

6. Proceed to sign in by following the on-screen prompts, as provided in your client.

   If the client you are using provides the Sign in privately if you are using a shared device option, you can use that option to prevent the client from caching information on your device.

   Note: Because the Horizon Client for Chrome always signs in privately, that client does not provide the option Sign in privately if you are using a shared device. After you click the server icon in the Horizon Client for Chrome, the client displays the Sign in with SSO UI in your browser.

   After you follow the on-screen prompts to sign in, the system displays the Sign in with SSO UI in your browser.

7. In Sign in with SSO, enter the name for the company domain that is associated with this Horizon Cloud environment and click Continue.

   In the Horizon Universal Console, administrators can see the name that is configured in the identity provider configuration. Refer to the Identity and Access Management in a Horizon Cloud Environment section of Horizon Cloud documentation.

   After you click Continue, follow the on-screen prompts. The system takes you to the login UI for your identity provider. Log in with your assigned credentials for that identity provider.

   After completing the identity provider login, the Horizon entitlement screen is displayed in your client, and lists your assigned desktops and applications.

8. Click the application icon to launch your application.
