You can retry a failed image version publish attempt, or expand the locations of an image version to additional provider instances.
Use the Horizon Cloud Republish feature for the following use cases:
- Failed publish attempt - If an attempt to publish an image version fails, you do not need to delete the old image and start from the beginning. You can republish the image version from the point of failure.
- Adding to a new provider instance - If the image version was not included in the initial publication for a provider instance, you can republish it to add it to that provider instance.
Note: Currently, you can republish to a maximum of 4 provider instances in a single republish operation.
Republish an Image Version to Additional Provider Instances
When you have multiple provider instances, you might need to expand the locations of an image version to additional provider instances (edges) other than the ones selected during a previous publish operation.
Prerequisites
- The image version must be in a Partially Published, Failed, or Available state.
- No Windows updates are pending. If recent Windows updates were installed, restart the WorkSpace.
- The WorkSpace has been restarted to ensure all updates are applied and the custom image can be created successfully.
- Any installed Microsoft Store applications (AppX packages) are properly installed and provisioned for all users, if applicable. For more information, see Troubleshooting Sysprep Errors.
- The WorkSpace status is Available.
Procedure
- From the Horizon Universal Console Home page, click Images.
- On the Images page, click a published image link.
- Select the published image version and click Publish.
- On the Republish Image page, Horizon Edges on which the image version failed to publish are selected automatically and cannot be deselected. Select the additional edge to which you want to expand the image. Select only the Horizon Edges that are associated with the same AWS account as the source Horizon Edge. Cross-AWS-account image copy replication is not supported.
- Click Republish.
