Create or Edit a Pool Group

Pool groups are used to create Desktop and Application resources that can then be entitled to users or groups. A pool group consists of one or more pools, along with settings and policies that define their behavior and availability.

Creating a Pool Group

To create a pool group, refer to Create a Single-Session Pool Group or Create a Multi-Session Pool Group. For information about configuring a direct connect pool group, refer to Configure a Pool Group Client as Direct Connect Only.

You can create a pool group that includes Manual Pools. If you do, we recommend ensuring that all VMs in that pool contain the same set of applications to avoid launch failures. We also recommend using identical application versions across all VMs to ensure a consistent user experience.

Editing a Pool Group

When editing a pool group in Horizon Cloud, it's important to be mindful of how changes may affect the users, resources, and overall configuration of your environment. Changes to the pool group such as modifying settings and configurations or adding/removing resources can impact active user sessions. Ensure that users are not logged in or using the virtual desktops associated with the pool group when making disruptive changes or consider scheduling changes during off-peak hours.

If you are adding or removing virtual desktops or applications from the pool group, make sure users are informed about any potential disruptions to their access. If you're editing pool group settings that could cause users to be disconnected (for example, changing session timeout or resource allocation), ensure they are aware and have saved their work.

Note: Pools can only be added or removed from a pool group and not from virtual desktops or apps directly.

You can remove or disassociate a pool from a pool group when needed. When doing so, the admin has the option to either remove or disassociate immediately or to remove or disassociate after the active sessions end.
