In Horizon Cloud, you can configure a pool group client as a direct connection so that your internal Horizon Client users can connect directly to internal resources such as desktops and agents without requiring use of the Unified Access Gateway's external FQDN.
You can allow a client within a pool group to connect directly to internal resources such as desktops and agents and bypass the Unified Access Gateway. You can specify the Direct Connect option while creating or editing a pool group. The Direct Connect option is available for any type of pool group - dedicated, float, or multi-session.
You can also allow only internal users, where users are defined as internal based on your configured network ranges, to access their entitlements. If Internal Users: Direct connect only is enabled but not Restrict access to internal users only, external users will continue using the UAG while internal users will use Direct Connect.
To configure this option, you must first meet the following prerequisites:
-
As an administrator, specify the Direct Connect option for the pool group.
From the Horizon Universal Console, click Pool Groups and enable the Internal Users: Direct connect only and/or the Restrict access to internal users only options in the Client section of the Policies stepper page.
-
As an administrator, define the trusted network ranges of the networks that your internal end users will connect from.
From the Horizon Universal Console, click Settings > Client Settings > Network Ranges and specify the internal network ranges to determine internal users.
An example of editing an existing pool group to allow Direct Connect is shown below.
-
Open the Horizon Universal Console for Horizon Cloud.
-
Click Pool Groups.
-
Select an existing pool group and then click Edit.
-
On the 2. Policies page, enable the Internal Users: Direct connect only toggle button and/or the Restrict access to internal users only toggle button within the Client section of the page.
When you enable the Internal Users: Direct connect only button, external users can continue to connect using the Unified Access Gateway unless the Restrict access to internal users only option is also enabled.
-
Click Save.
For confirmation, you can verify the pool group's Policies summary page to view the status of the Internal Users: Direct Connect Only and Restrict access to internal users only options in the Brokering section of the page.
If the user is not an internal user and is connecting from outside of the configured IP range, they continue to see entitlements for the pool groups that are configured as Internal Users: Direct connect only and connect using the Unified Access Gateway, unless the Restrict access to internal users only option is also enabled.
