You can update Horizon Agent on floating and multi-session desktops by updating an existing image or creating a new image with the latest Horizon Agent version and assigning it to the desktop pool.
Floating and multi-session desktops are deleted and recreated on demand and therefore do not retain user data on the OS disk. To update Horizon Agent on each desktop in the pool, you update the image with the latest version and assign it to the pool. When you apply the updated image using image markers to the pool, the service recreates those desktops.
To use an exisiting image to update Horizon Agent, create a image version with the latest Horizon Agent by publishing the new image version.
Procedure
-
Clone a new image version. See Clone an Image Version.
-
Update any software and apps as needed.
-
Publish the image with the latest Horizon Agent version. Select the agent to install and the required features. See Publishing an Image.
The published image version will have the latest Horizon Agent software.
-
Validate the image version and marker in the test pool if it is not validated while publishing the image.
-
If you intend to refresh all pools using the marker with this image version, click a marker associated with existing pools and update it to this image version. If you intend to refresh the pools individually, verify that a marker exists for this published image version to assign it to a desktop pool. See Edit an Image Version.
After the marker is updated, the service will refresh this desktop with the configured settings and all refreshed desktops will have the latest agents.
