Use the Horizon Universal Console to Track Your Horizon Licenses

The goal of the Subscriptions page is to help administrators quickly determine the status of their Horizon subscription licenses.

View Subscription Licenses

To view your Horizon subscription licenses, open Horizon Cloud and click Subscriptions from the Horizon Universal Console. The following details apply to the Subscriptions page.

• You can see the number of licenses your deployment has in the Total Licenses section. The section lists total number of licenses and lists the number of licenses by classification. See the information that follows regarding license classifications.

• You can change the way the page presents the license details by using the sorting arrows or filters available on the page. For example, in the table heading, you can use filters for the Classification (Concurrent or Named) and Status columns, among others. You can use column sorting options such as Start Date and Expiry Date.

• SID - The Service Instance ID (SID) is a unique identifier generated for each subscription.

• Billing - The license billing types are as follows.

  • Paid - One bill at the start of the license
  • Monthly - The bill for each month of the license
  • Trial - The bill because the license is a trial license

• Classification - The license usage model classifications are listed below. To see license consumption details, click View Consumption. On the License Consumption page, tabs are available for the types of licenses for which you are subscribed. Therefore, you might see the Concurrent Licenses tab, Named Licenses tab, or both.

  Note: The minimum required Horizon 8 Connection Server version and Horizon Agent version is 8.11 to allow use of the following Concurrent Licenses and Named Licenses features for Horizon 8 edges.

  • **Concurrent Licenses** - A concurrent license is a license that tracks total number of end users accessing or using the software at any given time to maintain an active or idle connection to their desktops or applications from an endpoint device. See the following examples:

  A concurrent user running three desktops at the same time via three different endpoint devices is counted three times, once for each of the three concurrently connected desktop sessions.

  A concurrent user running three desktops at the same time via the same endpoint device and the same client is counted only once.

  

  **Note:** Click **Refresh** to update the peak usage statistics.

  The Concurrent Licenses page displays information about your concurrent licenses, such as the total number of concurrent licenses available and the peak usage statistics. The peak usage statistics show the highest number of concurrent licenses in use during specific time periods.

  By default, the system shows license usage details **By Last 90 days**, with the option to see the usage details **By Month** or **By Last 7 days**.

  • **Named Licenses** - A named license is a license that tracks unique end users that accessed or used the software to connect to their desktops or applications.

  Horizon Cloud counts the number of unique end users who have launched a session in the last 90 days from yesterday.

  A single user accessing multiple desktops and applications is counted once.

  

  By default, the system shows license usage details **By Last 90 days**, with the option to see the usage details **By Month** or **By Last 7 days**.

Note: For subscriptions that include a mix of Named and Concurrent licenses on the same SID, no mechanism exists to monitor how many licenses are tracked as Named and how many are tracked as Concurrent.

The case is the same when more than one SID is associated with an organization that has a mix of Named and Concurrent licenses. No mechanism exists to track licenses under a specific license type. The system counts usage for both Named and Concurrent licenses.

• Example 1: Customer purchased SID1 with quantities of 60 Named and 40 Concurrent. If 100 unique users have sessions at the same time, customer sees consumption as 100 Named and 100 Concurrent.

• Example 2: Customer purchased SID1 with a quantity of 60 Named, and also purchased SID2 with a quantity of 40 Concurrent. Customer redeemed both SID1 and SID2 to a single organization. If 100 unique users have sessions at the same time, customer sees consumption as 100 Named and 100 Concurrent.

Dependencies for Checking Horizon 8 Subscription License Consumption in Universal Console

The Horizon 8 license consumption feature in the Horizon Universal Console depends on events consumed by the Edge Gateway from each Connection Server in the Edge. For example, if there are 7 connection servers in the specified Edge, the Edge Gateway consumes the events from each of those Connection Servers. The Edge Gateway sends those events to Workspace ONE Intelligence.

Thus, the Horizon 8 license consumption data may be inaccurate in the following scenarios for the respective Edges:

• Edge Gateway is not healthy or powered-off.

• Edge Gateway is unable to communicate to all individual Connection Servers in the respective Edge.

• Edge Gateway is disconnected from Horizon Control Plane.

• Edge Gateways is unable to send data to Workspace ONE Intelligence.

• Edge Gateway is unable to communicate to Horizon Cloud MQTT Server - for related information, see the Ports and Protocols Required by Horizon Edge section of Port and Protocol Requirements for Deploying Horizon 8 Edge.

Note: For accurate license usage of Horizon 8 Subscription License Consumption:

• Horizon 8 Connection Server must be version 8.11 or later.
• Horizon Agent on all VMs must be version 8.15 or later.
