Manage Published Applications

In the Horizon Universal Console, you can entitle, unentitle, add, edit, or remove a published application using the respective capabilities in the Desktop and App Catalog page.

In the Published Applications grid, the Type column indicates the type of published application, which include Installed Applications, App Volumes Applications, and Manual Application.
The Source column indicates the App Volumes application name. There is no source displayed for the Installed or Manual applications.

Prerequisites

A pool group provides published applications for your environment. Hence, ensure that a pool group is already created.

If you don't have a pool group, you can create a pool group from the Desktop and App Catalog page itself. Navigate to the Published Applications tab and click GO TO POOL GROUPS in the empty grid. In the Pool Groups page, you can start creating a multi-session pool group.
Note: Published applications can be added only to Multi-Session pool group types: Published application and Published desktop and application.

Alternately, you can also create a pool group by navigating directly to the Pool Groups page.

For information about the procedure, see Create a Pool Group.

Entitle a Published Application

You can assign a published application to a user or user group using the Entitle option.
You can unassign the published application using the Unentitle option.

Procedure

  1. In the Horizon Universal Console, navigate to Desktop and App Catalog.

  2. In the Published Applications tab, select the published application which needs to be assigned.

  3. Select ENTITLEMENT > Entitle.

  4. In the Entitle Published Applications page, navigate to the Users section, and select the User types.

  5. Depending on the User types selected, search and add the user or user group.
The added user type appears in the Selected users/user groups table.

  6. Click Save.
The published application is entitled to the user or user group.

  7. Optional: To view all entitlements or assignees for a published application, click the desired published application in the Desktop and App Catalog page.

    • All assignees are displayed.
    • To unassign a published application from an assignee, select the assignee, and click Unentitle. In the Unentitle Desktop window, click Unentitle. The published application gets unassigned from the user and the user is no longer listed in the Entitlements page.

What to do Next

After a published application is assigned to a user or user group, they can launch the published application. For information about how a user can launch a published application, see the following sections:

Add a Published Application

You can add a published application (installed application, App Volumes application, and a manual application) using the Add option in the Published Applications tab. The availability of this capability in the Desktop and App Catalog page enhances the usability because you need not navigate to the Pool Groups page to perform this operation.

Procedure

  1. In the Horizon Universal Console, navigate to Desktop and App Catalog.

  2. In the Published Applications tab, click Add.

  3. Select the type of published application.

  4. Select the pool group to which the application must be added.

  5. Depending on the type of published application, follow the UI prompts and provide the required information.

  6. Click Save.
The application is added to the Published Applications grid.

  7. To edit a published application's attribute, select the published application, and click Edit.

  8. In the Edit Attributes window, edit the attributes of the published application.

    • For manual and installed applications, you can edit the Display Name, Parameter, and Start Folder attributes.

When editing the parameter of the published application, you can either edit this attribute for All Pools or select Custom and edit the parameter for a specific pool.

    • For App Volumes applications, you can edit only the Display Name attribute.

For any of these published applications, the updated Display Name is seen in the Published Applications grid.

  9. To remove a published application, select the application and click Remove.
