As a Horizon 8 administrator, you want to know what data is collected and kept synchronized between your Horizon 8 and Horizon Cloud environments.
Horizon Subscription Types
The Horizon 8 Cloud Connected data that is sent from your Horizon 8 environment and Horizon Cloud Control Plane to the Horizon Cloud service for the purposes of licensing and monitoring depends on your Horizon 8 subscription type. There are two main Horizon 8 subscription types:
- Horizon Universal, which consists of Horizon Universal, Horizon Apps Universal, and Horizon Standard Apps
- Horizon Plus, which consists of Horizon Enterprise Plus and Horizon Enterprise Plus
If you have a Horizon Universal subscription, you are provisioned with Workspace ONE Intelligence and your data is also sent to Workspace ONE Intelligence.
If you have a Horizon Plus subscription, you are not provisioned with Workspace One Intelligence and your data cannot be sent to Workspace ONE Intelligence.
Licensing Data
Regardless of your Horizon 8 subscription type, you can activate your licenses using either an Edgeless license activation or a Horizon Edge Gateway-based license activation.
-
Edgeless license activation
Horizon 8 customers can activate their subscription licenses without deploying an Edge Gateway and by simply using the Horizon Universal Console. Functionality exists for an administrator to push licenses from the Horizon Universal Console to your on-premises Horizon Connection Servers. Upon successful license activation, licensing data is sent to the the Horizon Control Plane, the Horizon Universal Console, and the applicable Horizon 8 (on-premises) Connection Servers.
-
Horizon Edge Gateway based license activation
For Horizon 8 customers who have deployed a Horizon Edge Gateway, licenses are synced by using an automated license synchronization process. Licences are synched daily between the Horizon Control Plane and Horizon 8 Connection Servers. After successful license synchronization, licensing data is sent to Omnissa's internal enterprise data lakehouse from the applicable on-premises Horizon Connection Servers.
-
Monitoring Data
Horizon continuously monitors the Horizon Cloud and on-premises sessions, user activity, and Horizon-critical infrastructure resources to enable Day 2 management for Horizon 8 and Horizon Cloud administrators.
For Horizon Universal subscription customers who have activated their licenses by deploying a Horizon Edge Gateway, Horizon Cloud collects and monitors the following information:
- User activity data
- Session data
- Virtual Machine (VM) datasuch as general information and power on/off status
- Unified Access Gateway (UAG) data such as general UAG information, UAG health status, and UAG appliance information
- Horizon Edge error data
- Horizon Connection Server data such as general information, server statistics, and server component health
Image Management Data
Horizon Cloud keeps track of images data by using Image Management Service (IMS).
For Horizon Universal subscription customers who have activated their licenses by deploying a Horizon Edge Gateway, Horizon Cloud collects and monitors the following IMS information:
- Images
- Assets
- Versions
- Markers
Horizon Universal Broker Data
The Horizon Universal Broker is currently available as a Limited Availability (LA) feature only. For information about the Universal Broker, contact Omnissa Customer Connect or your Omnissa account representative.
Operational Data
Operational data is sent from Horizon 8 on-premises Connection Servers to Omnissa's internal enterprise data lakehouse only when the Horizon Connection Servers are connected to the internet. There is no choice for you to not send this data. If the Horizon Connection Servers are air-gapped, this data cannot reach Omnissa's internal enterprise data lakehouse and thus the data cannot be managed, monitored, and kept in sync in both your Horizon 8 and Horizon Cloud environments.
Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP) Data
