Launch a Workspace ONE Assist Session in Horizon Cloud to Access a User Desktop

Administrators can use the Horizon Universal Console to access the virtual desktops of end users. Access is available when your environment is licensed to use the Workspace ONE Assist for Horizon Cloud and the additional minimum requirements are met in the VM that underlies the selected desktop. For more details specific to Workspace ONE Assist see the Omnissa Workspace ONE Assist for Omnissa Horizon guide.

  • Workspace ONE Assist is supported solely for single-session (VDI) desktops. Multi-session (RDSH) desktops are not supported.

  • Workspace ONE Assist requests are allowed only for connected and reconnected sessions. Disconnected sessions are not supported.

  • If an existing Workspace ONE Assist session is connected and ongoing for a Horizon desktop when a new request is submitted, the new request is accepted, but the Workspace ONE Assist session launch fails with the newly generated launch URL.

  • If an existing Workspace ONE Assist session request is already successful when a new request is submitted, the new request is accepted and the launch URL is generated in the context of the new request.

Prerequisites

  • Obtain the Workspace ONE Assist add-on license SKU.

  • Ensure that the minimum required version of Horizon Agent is installed on the end user VM, as follow.

    • Horizon 8 desktops = 8.17
    • Horizon Cloud desktops = 25.4.0
  • Ensure that the minimum required version of Workspace ONE Assist Agent is installed on the end user VM, as follows: 25.11.1

  • For Horizon 8 desktops, ensure that the Connection Server version is 8.17 or later.

  • Further version requirements may be found in the Horizon Cloud Release Notes.

Procedure

  1. Click the Search for Resources and Users text box.

  2. With the User tab selected, start typing the name of a user and select the name when it appears in the list that follows.

  3. With the Sessions tab selected, click the name of a session that you want to access.

  4. On the session details page:

    • To launch or request a Workspace ONE Assist session and view session details, click the Summary tab, and then click Launch Workspace ONE Assist.
    • To view live process information and resource usage details for the selected session or VM, click the Processes tab.
  5. Click Request Workspace ONE Assist.

  6. When the Workspace ONE Assist Status tile lists Success as the Request status value, click Click to launch.

This action opens the Workspace ONE Assist session in a new tab. Within that tab, a one-time password (OTP) is presented.

  7. Provide that OTP to the end user whose session you are requesting access to and ask the user to enter the OTP in the user's session and click Accept. Specifically, the user enters the OTP to a prompt for a PIN within the Assist for Horizon window.

Result

You now have the ability to control and navigate through the user's desktop.
