Setting Up Hub Services to Support Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub

Hub Services is a service co-located with Omnissa Access that lets you design and set up how employees use the Workspace ONE® Intelligent Hub app to access, discover, and connect with corporate resources, teams, and workflows within a company. Users use the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub app on devices or the Hub portal in a web browser to access the employee engagement features.

The table shows the features available for cloud and on-premises deployments.

Understanding Key Hub Services Features

For You Tab

The For You tab is the primary destination in Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub where employees receive and act on notifications from your organization.

Notifications appear as cards that users can view, dismiss, or take action on. Users access the For You tab through:

  • The Intelligent Hub mobile app (bottom navigation)
  • The Intelligent Hub web portal (top navigation)
  • Push notifications that direct them to the For You tab

You can configure a custom name for the For You tab in the Hub Services console to better match your organization's terminology. For example, you can rename it to Notifications or Surveys. See Rename the For You Tab in Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub.

Notification Badges

When new notifications are available, users see a circular badge with a number on it in the following locations:

  • The Intelligent Hub app icon on their device.
  • The For You page in the app navigation.

These badges persist until users view or dismiss the notifications, and synchronize across all devices logged into the same account.

Notification Categories and Priority Levels

Administrators can create two categories of notifications:

  • Informational notifications: One-way communications, such as office closures, announcements.
  • Actionable notifications: Include buttons for user actions, such as password change or a survey.

Each notification can have priority levels, such as urgent, high, and regular that affect how the notification displays to users. For example, urgent notifications appear as pop-ups when users open the app.

Templates

You can use Hub Services templates to customize the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub features for different groups of users based on their role, location, or other criteria. The groups you select to access the template can be Workspace ONE UEM smart groups or Omnissa Access groups. See Using Hub Templates to Customize the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub Experience for Different Users.

Deployment Scenarios

Workspace ONE UEM Only

When you use Hub Services with Workspace ONE UEM, without Omnissa Access, you can configure an app catalog in Hub Services to access UEM and web apps from the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub app on user devices. You can also send out device notifications, display banners for persistent announcements, and set up an employee self-service page where employees can manage their devices and access help links that you define. You can customize the layout of the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub app with branding changes, a custom tab, and your logo.

Omnissa Access Only

When Hub Services is configured with Omnissa Access without Workspace ONE UEM, users can access the app catalog through the Hub portal from a browser. You can set up the Hub portal so that users can access resources, receive notifications, display banners, and use the employee self-services page to access help links that you define. You can customize the layout of the portal with branding changes and your logo.

Hub Services with Workspace ONE UEM and Omnissa Access

When Hub Services is integrated with both Workspace ONE UEM and Omnissa Access, organizations benefit from the complete Intelligent Hub experience that combines device management, identity and access management, and employee engagement features.

This full integration scenario provides the following:

  • Unified App Catalog: Native apps from UEM, web apps, SaaS apps, and virtual apps from a single catalog.
  • Advanced Authentication: Integrated authentication with support for Mobile SSO, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and conditional access policies.
  • Comprehensive Communications: Organizational communications from your organization, persistent banners for important announcements, and device-specific notifications.
  • Comprehensive Self-Service: Device management and help resources combined with organizational resources.
  • People Directory: Employee search and organizational chart access.
  • Custom Branding: Organization-wide consistent branding across all Hub touchpoints.
  • User Experience: Employees get the full Intelligent Hub experience across all platforms—mobile apps, desk
