Limited Availability: Sending Zoom Team Chats with Freestyle

Create an app in the Zoom App Marketplace, configure Zoom as a workflow connector, then send Zoom Team Chat messages using Freestyle Orchestrator in Omnissa Intelligence. Message your IT team about issues with poor experience scores, CPU and GPU usage, disk space, app crashes, poor device compliance, device enrollment statuses, or device-wipe commands.

Limited availability

Intelligence offers Zoom Team Chat with Freestyle with limited availability. These features are available to a limited number of customers for extended feedback.

1. Create a Zoom App with Server-to-Server OAuth

Your Zoom application requires permission to send messages to your Zoom account. Include the listed Team Chat scopes when configuring your application.

  • View and manage all users' team chat channels: chat_channel:write:admin
  • View and manage all users' team chat messages: chat_channel:write:admin

Work in the Zoom App Marketplace to build an app.

  1. Navigate to the Zoom App Marketplace and select to Build App from the Develop drop-down. Find the develop drop-down in the top right corner of the Zoom App Marketplace.
  2. Create a Server-to-Server OAuth app. When you create your Zoom app to use Zoom Team Chat automations in Intelligence, use server-to-server oauth.
  3. Ensure you add the scopes chat_channel:write:admin and chat_channel:write:admin to your app. Add the listed scopes to your app so there is no interruption in communication.
  4. Record your app values for Account ID, Client ID, and Client Secret so that you can authenticate your application in Intelligence. Record your app's credentials so you can enter them in Intelligence.

2. Authenticate Zoom Team Chat in Intelligence

  1. Go to your Intelligence console.
  2. Select the Integrations tab, select Workflow Connectors, and then choose Add. Add Zoom Team Chat as a Workflow Connector.
  3. Select the Managed Connectors tab and then select the Zoom Workflow Connector.
  4. Enter your Account ID, Client ID, and Client Secret.
  5. Authorize the integration.

3. Get Zoom Channel or User IDs to add to your Freestyle Workflow

You can send workflow action messages to Zoom Channel or Users. Users are identified by their work email addresses. You can get the Channel ID from the Zoom admin console.

  1. Navigate to the Zoom admin panel.
  2. Go to Admin on the left navigation and select Team Chat Management > Channel.
  3. Search for the desired channel and record the Channel ID.
    • Copy the ID that is appended to the URL in your browser window.
    • For example, in this URL, https://zoom.us/account/imchannel#/member/channelID, you only need the channelID value. Record the channel ID to use it in an Intelligence workflow and to send messages to this channel.

4. Use Zoom Team Chat as a workflow action

  1. In Intelligence, go to Workspace > Freestyle > General and add a new workflow.
  2. Configure the Data Source. For example, you could use Intelligence > Device Experience Score.
  3. Decide if you want the Trigger Settings to be automatic or manual.
  4. Configure your Trigger Rules based on the desired use case.
    • Some use cases include Device Management, Security, or Digital Employee Experience.
    • An example is select Device Health Score > Includes > Poor.
  5. Add the Zoom action to Send Message. Use this action to notify your IT team and initiate business processes.
  6. Send a message to a Channel or User. Enter the Channel or User ID from the Zoom admin panel.
Add the Zoom action to send a message to a Zoom channel or a Zoom user.
  7. Create your message and add any desired dynamic values. For example, you could enter Device health score is poor or bad. You can then add a dynamic value for Device Name so that the system includes the name of the device with the poor score.
  8. Indicate who the message is from.
    • You can use any email address or user ID within your Zoom account.
    • Consider using a service account (or general IT account).
    • If you enter me, then the From message comes from the user who owns the Zoom App.
  9. Activate the workflow with the Enable Workflow menu item.
  10. Save the workflow.

When the workflow identifies the trigger, it sends your message to the Zoom Channel or User. Refresh the Zoom instance to see messages.
