Data Dictionary

While using filters to query data in Data Explorer, Reports, Dashboard Widgets, or Freestyle Orchestrator workflows, you can hover over any attribute to see its metadata in a Data Dictionary card. Use the card to confirm what an attribute represents, the valid values, and how it can be used, without leaving the filter you're building.

Note: Data Explorer also has a separate Data Dictionary tab that lists metadata for all attributes tied to a query's selected data source and entity, after you run the query. The Data Dictionary card described in this topic is different. This Data Dictionary card surfaces metadata inline, for one attribute at a time, at the point where you're selecting it, and across Data Explorer, Reports, Dashboard Widgets, and Workflows alike.

Example

Hovering over the Activation Lock Enabled attribute, found under Workspace ONE UEM > Devices in the Data Explorer, shows that it's a Boolean attribute indicating whether Activation Lock is turned on for a device, applies to iOS only, and supports use as a report column, filter, and group-by value.

Where you'll see it

The Data Dictionary card appears wherever you search for and select an attribute in a filter, including the following components.

• Data Explorer: Filters in the query builder.
• Reports: Filters when building or editing a report.
• Dashboard Widgets: Filters when configuring a widget.
• Freestyle Orchestrator Workflows: Filters when building workflow conditions.

Hover over an attribute name in the filter's attribute list to display its card.

What's in the card

Each card shows the following metadata, where available for that attribute.

• Attribute Name: The name of the attribute.
• Data Type: The attribute's data type, such as Boolean, String, Long, or Date.
• Description: A short explanation of what the attribute represents. Where relevant, the description also notes details like which platform the attribute applies to (for example, "iOS only") or the unit the value is measured in (for example, kilobytes).
• Possible Values: The set of values the attribute can hold, if the attribute has a defined list (for example, True/False for a Boolean attribute).
• Report Column: Whether the attribute is available as a column in report output.
• Filter Support: Whether the attribute can be used as a filter condition.
• Group By Support: Whether the attribute can be used to group results, such as in an aggregation.

Note: Not every attribute has all fields populated. We're continuing to add and refine attribute descriptions across all integrations, so some attributes may not yet show a complete description.
