Snapshot Event Triggers

Snapshot events are triggered in the Omnissa Workspace ONE Experience Management solution when the system identifies specific behaviors. To help troubleshoot issues, view the listed behaviors that trigger the system to send snapshot events to your Experience Management deployment.

What is a snapshot event

A snapshot event represents the current state of the event with a singular, static data point. It does not represent system history, tracked information, or time series information that includes multiple data points.

Snapshot mirror

The system uses a snapshot mirror that filters out duplicate snapshot events, both for periodic sends and during Experience Management telemetry agent restarts. This mirror helps reduce unnecessary event reporting by throwing out duplicate events that have already been sent.

Asset information (asset_info)

Send frequency: Event-driven (instant) and periodic (configurable)

  • Sent periodically every 5 hours by default.
    • You can configure this value between 1 minute and 24 hours.
    • Use AssetInfoTracker/RefreshIntervalSec.
    • This is a registry or a managed setting, and it is not an Experience Management field.
  • Sent when the tracker starts.
  • Sent when Experience Management restarts which happens when an admin re-enables the Experience Management solution, which restarts the telemetry agent.

Battery information (battery_info)

Send frequency: Event-driven (instant)

  • Sent when an applicable event happens.
  • Events include when a battery is connected or removed.
  • Typically, the system does not send these events when Experience Management restarts.

Device hardware (device_hardware)

Send frequency: Event-driven (instant) and periodic (configurable)

  • Sent when a USB or PCI device is added, removed, or has a change in properties.
  • Sent when an applicable event happens.
  • Sent during a periodic refresh, as a full inventory, with a default value of every 1 hour.
    • You can configure this value.
    • Use HWDeviceTracker/RefreshIntervalSec where the minimum is 5 seconds and the maximum is 24 hours.
    • This is a registry or a managed setting, and it is not an Experience Management field.
  • Sent when the Experience Management telemetry agent starts with a full inventory set of changes.

Storage information (disk_info, volume_info)

Send frequency: Event-driven (instant) but the change delay is configurable

  • Sent for disk, volume, or when a partition is added or removed.
  • Sent as a full inventory snapshot after a hardware change, but with a delay.
  • Sent after a configurable delay like a NotificationSyncUpDelay after the change.
  • Sent when the Experience Management telemetry agent starts with a full inventory set of changes.
  • You can configure the delay for applying changes in the device settings.
    • Use StorageTracker/NotificationSyncUpDelay, which is a device or registry setting where the default 60 seconds, the minimum is 10 seconds, and the maximum is 1 hour.
    • This is a device or registry setting, and it is not an Experience Management field.
    • Configure this setting on the device because it is not a per-disk property.

Network adapters (device_network_adapter)

Send frequency: Event-driven (instant)

  • Sent when the tracker starts for all network adapters with a full inventory.
  • Sent immediately when the system detects a new adapter.
  • Sent when any tracked adapter's properties change.
  • Properties include the name, MAC, IP, media typ, and wireless information.
