Virtual Experience Dashboard

Omnissa Workspace ONE Experience Management for Horizon offers the Virtual Experience dashboard that helps you monitor and troubleshoot Horizon virtual desktop and published-app sessions, identifies logon, network, system performance, and identifies app issues across your pools, farms, edges, and management components. Find out use cases for working in the dashboard and data it offers for viewing and interactions.

Supported platforms

Virtual Experience displays metrics for Horizon-managed virtual desktops and RDSH sessions served through Horizon Connection Servers, UAG appliances, edges, pools, and farms. Experience Management for Horizon works for the Windows platform.

Use cases

Use the Virtual Experience dashboard to work with your Experience Management for Horizon data in these use cases.

  • Aggregate visibility across your cloud connected Horizon edges (pods), including total session and the percentage of sessions with active issues in one view, along with number of edges, Unified Access Gateways (UAG), Connection Servers and Pools and Farms.
  • Identify the number of sessions impacted by key contributors to sub-optimal Horizon experiences, including logon delays, protocol and network degradation, system performance, and application issues.
  • Drill into individual Horizon sessions to review CPU usage, memory usage, pools, edges, and client device details.
  • Identify pools and farms with high CPU, high memory, VM agent errors, and network-impacted users.
  • Review connection server and UAG appliance health, including CPU, memory, sessions, and expired certificates.
  • Identify apps with crashes, hangs, or high CPU and memory consumption across the environment.

How the Virtual Experience dashboard works

Virtual Experience aggregates telemetry from Horizon sessions, edges, UAG appliances, connection servers, pools, and farms into a single dashboard.

  • Sessions are grouped into three issue categories: Logon, Network, and System performance and applications.
  • Each session receives a Poor, Neutral, or Good score based on the issues it encounters.
  • Impacted sessions counts sessions that crossed pre-defined thresholds for the different issue (for example, Shell load >= 30s or CPU usage >= 95%).
  • Pools, farms, connection servers, and UAG appliances roll up session-level issues so you can identify which infrastructure components are contributing the most to poor sessions.

The same session, pool, connection server, and app issue data also rolls up into top-issue widgets on the Experience Management for Horizon Organization dashboard. They are grouped as Top User-session Issues, Applications with Poor Score, Top Horizon Management Issues, and Top Pools with Agent Issues. Admins can see the same issue categories at a glance before drilling into a specific Virtual Experience workspace.

  1. Go to Workspace > Experience Management.
  2. Select the Virtual Experience dashboard.
  3. The dashboard opens on the Overview tab.
  4. Select Pools And Farms, Horizon Sessions, Management Components, or Apps to view other areas of the dashboard. Virtual Experience — Overview tab, showing summary tiles, impacted-session charts, the All issues table, and Trends.

Overview tab

The Overview tab summarizes session health across your cloud-connected Horizon deployment for the selected time range. The dashboard defaults to the Last 24 hours.

Summary tiles at the top of the tab show the following data.

Total SessionsTotal number of Horizon sessions in the selected time range.
Sessions with issuesCount and percentage of sessions that crossed at least one issue threshold.
EdgesTotal edge count and how many have active issues.
UAGsTotal Unified Access Gateway count and how many have active issues.
Connection ServersTotal connection server count for the environment.
PoolsTotal pool and farm count and how many have active issues.

Below the summary tiles, four charts break down impacted sessions.

  • Impacted Sessions by Logon Phase: Impacted sessions grouped by logon-related issues, such as Shell load >= 30s and Profile load >= 10s.
  • Top system performance issues: Impacted sessions grouped by resource issues, such as CPU usage >= 95%, Memory usage >= 90%, and Disk IOPS >= 2000.
  • Top network issues: Impacted sessions grouped by network issues, such as Protocol packet loss >= 1% and LAN latency >= 10ms.
  • Top Impacted Apps: Apps most associated with session issues, including CPU usage, memory usage, Disk IOPS, App Crash and App Hang

The All issues table lists every issue definition, the number of impacted sessions, and the issue Type (Logon, Network, or System performance). Use Filter to select and focus the dashboard on specified Horizon Edges.

The Trends section plots each issue over time. Use the Interval control (10 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hours, or 2 hours) to change the granularity. Trends help administrators visualize any hot spots in the Horizon deployment throughout the day and time range.

Pools And Farms tab

The Pools and Farms tab shows the availability and health of the Horizon pool- and farm, as well as contributors impacting the VM's.

  • Pools and Farms: A searchable tree of pools and farms grouped by edge, with an issue-count badge on each edge, and pools and farms with issues.
  • Top Pools with VM Agent Errors, Top Pools with VM Memory > 90%, Top Pools with VM CPU > 95%, and Top Pools with Network-Impacted Users: Charts ranking pools by each issue type.
  • Administrators can drill down into specific VM's to view the VM timeline.

The All Pools and Farms table lists every pool or farm.

  • Administrators can select the Pool or Farm name to view details about the selected item.
  • At a pool or farm, you have information on number of provisioned VM's, user assignment type, machine capacity, along the VM's and the respective user connection details, like Horizon agent and OS versions, Horizon client and VM information, protocol, and network performance details.
  • Admins can also select on the VM name and user name to get to the VM timeline and user-session timeline, respectively.

Horizon Sessions tab

The Horizon Sessions tab lists individual sessions and lets you filter, investigate, and report on session-level data.

  • The left panel groups sessions by category, Sessions, Logon Experience, Network / Protocol, and VM Performance.
  • The score summary shows total sessions and the count and percentage in each of the Poor Score, Neutral Score, and Good Score bands for the selected time range.
  • The All Sessions table lists User Name, CPU Usage, Memory Usage, Pool Name, Edge Name, Client Device Name, Pool Type, and Session Type for each session.
    • Select Advanced Filters to narrow the list, or select a session and use Create Investigation, Run Quickflow which is currently available with session on Horizon Cloud on native clouds (Azure, Amazon Workspaces Core), or Report to act on it.

Management Components tab

The Management Components tab reports the health of connection servers and UAG appliances that support Horizon sessions.

Note: This tab supports only Horizon 8 management components.

  • The Score Breakdown table shows each contributor, Connection Server Cert…, Connection Server CPU, Connection Server Memory, Connection Server Sessions, Connection Server Status, and the equivalent UAG Appliance contributors with Poor, Neutral, and Good score counts.
    • Select thresholds to review or adjust the values used to classify each score.
  • The Components section has Connection Servers and UAG Appliances sub-tabs, each with CPU, Memory, and Sessions views and a per-component detail table showing Connection Server Name, Build Number, Overall Score, Connection Server Status, CPU Usage (95th Percentile), Memory Usage (95th Percentile), and Sessions.

Apps tab

The Apps tab reports app-level stability and resource usage across sessions.

  • The score summary shows Total Apps and the count and percentage of apps in the Poor Score, Neutral Score, and Good Score bands.
  • The All Apps table lists App Name, App Score, Installation method, App Crash and App Hang counts, CPU (95th Percentile), Memory (95th Percentile), Avg. CPU, Avg. Memory, and Impact. Use the Good, Neutral, Poor filter buttons or Advanced Filters to narrow the list, or select Report to export it.
